Zoe

This is an unfinished piece from Form 3. The idea was circling around adventure and magic, I think.

“Wake up, or you're going to be late!"
"It's Sunday!"
"O ya, I forgot."
"Never mind, I'm coming."
"I'll go call the others." She went out of the room.
Zoe got out of bed, changed and went out of her room. As she was passing the bedroom beside hers, a shriek was heard. "It must be that crybaby Ann......"

As she was going downstairs, she heard her father reminding Elle to "spend wisely”. “Morning Zoe."
"Morning dad," she greeted her father as she takes a piece of sandwich.
"Dad, I'm going to the library to meet my friends."
"Need a ride?” he asked. "I'll walk. Anyway thanks."

* * * * * * * * * *

"Where is she?"
"Beats me"
A girl was running towards them, her hair was in a mess, like she just came out of a cat fight.
"Hi, sorry I'm late, Ann started her tantrum and I was the only one left to stop her."
"You're 5 minutes, 35 seconds and 6 milliseconds late!"
"Come on, Lynn, it is only 5 minutes"
"You kept us waiting! And you didn't even…even…you’re a mess!"
"Lynn, sweetie, calm down…pleeease…" Hailey stopped the argument-to-be and the three of them went into the library. The place was oddly filled with teenagers probably trying to finish their school projects. The three found a place in the geography section and started their homework.

"Why are you sitting at my table? Get off my place! Go find somewhere else." a very high-pitched voice was shouting into their ear. "Cherlyn, we were here first and this is a library, everyone uses these tables." Lynn said. "This is my table, there's my hair clip over there, in the middle of the table, in case you're blind." The three girls followed where the finger was pointing to and saw a blue clip at the corner of the table. Zoe couldn't control her temper, "YOU can't expect us to see that tiny metal!” Her voice was loud and demanding, all eyes were going on the steaming four now, dying to see what happens next.

“Well, you've seen it already, now MOVE!” Cherlyn said and pushed Zoe’s bag onto the blue carpet. “Now I've had it, you come over here” Lynn said as she started to pull up her sleeves, wanting to free the volcano inside of her through her fist on Cherlyn. Suddenly, she was pulled back by Hailey, who had noticed the strict librarian turning her head towards the geography section. Hailey cooled Lynn down “She’s just spoiled, and you can easily turn her upside down without even touching her.” Lynn has a cunning smile, scaring Cherlyn, but not budging her even a bit from the table she “adores”.

The three girls went out of the library as Lynn couldn't stand to be in the same place with Cherlyn.

“Having enough fresh air?” Zoe asked Lynn who was breathing like a balloon inflating. “Let me see, not breathing out, Hailey…… she’s going to do it the 30th time”

Lynn opened her mouth, out came these: “That Cherlyn, that Cherlyn, so if you’re the most beautiful girl in school, most “admirable” girl in school, richest girl in school, blah blah… you are full of nothing, you hear me, nothing!” She added another sentence this time, “By the way, Zoe, this is the 35th time in this year, adding up to 351 times in a lifetime.”

They walked to a cafe a few blocks away. The girls went in and were greeted by the owner, a 20 year old college student, Shawn. The girls always look for him when they have difficulties in their studies. “So what brings you here on a Sunday?” he asked and saw Lynn with the pulled up sleeves. “She’s in a bit of a bad mood,” answered Hailey with a wink. “I’ll go get your drinks” Shawn slipped behind into the kitchen and the sound of the ices being shaken was heard.

“One freezing shake, one orange juice and one chocolate shake,” Shawn came out again with a smile, hoping that Lynn has already calm down. He can never forget the first time she exploded over some book that she had anticipated.

“So, what are you girls doing? Usually you’re in bed on Sunday mornings,” Shawn asked as he knew that Saturday nights are a 24 hour non-stop for the girls. They would stay up until who knows when, and sleep only after dawn.

ever since the Chinese paper
we hear nothing of it
soon
the sealed scroll will be revealed
what is there to anticipate
I don't know
at the moment
I feel empty
But am I ready to face it
to see what is written
what is going to happen
what will be my future
remains a mystery
what has been written on the scroll
matters
but what matters most is how you see it
and how you decide

blabbering blabbering

I'm outta my mind

perfect!

Yea, random idea to be drawing contrast within 2 hours!

In the first drawing, I was thinking about drawing a girl with a sling bag, but when I started, I jumped to a sudden pop up idea. I forgot about the sling bag girl!! Don't know what kind of explanation can I do for the first drawing, but I can only think of "dark scene with brighter colors?" I give up...

As for the second one with the undone face thingy, I was thinking how long has it been since the last time I drew an eye. And started off with the right side to the left. I didn't finish it, because I have no idea what to add. So, I saved it for some other day in the future.

Must stop soon, house chores!!! Do not stick yourself to the keyboard again!! Get off it!!!!!!

4 Days Before 20th

Yup, just four days before 20th of February, we finally got the chance to go to the CSI Exhibition. The first time I saw the commercial on TV, I pretty much freaked out at 12 midnight. CSI was on top of my Must Watch List ever since Primary 6. I really wondered what is the exhibition about, how fun it would be if I ever have the chance to go, but I never actually thought of going there. Let's just say, I hesitate a lot when it's about requesting something from my parents.

Soon after that, we had our exams. It was during that time, Kim told me about planning to go there. The plan was to go there after finishing the final paper. That was in December. But after the paper, because it was the holidays, each of us had things to do, well, maybe Kim only. I was having a family vacation. So the trip was dragged to January, which was later dragged to after the Lunar New Year.

Finally on the 16th of February, we went to the Singapore Science Center for the CSI Exhibition. I wasn't on hyperactive mode, or I would have been running around or jumping and stuff. As soon as we got the tickets, there was what I would call a "briefing session" through a recorded video from the supervisor. There were 3 cases reported and we're suppose to investigate either one of it.

We went and did the first case, then after completing it, we went for the second and third as well. It took us 1.5 hours for the first case, but I can't remember if I ever asked Kim about how long did it took us for the other 2 cases. It was mainly using the computers for analysis, tests, and hypothesis. Unlike Kim, it took me a long time to get used to the touchscreen.

There was no time limit, so we took our own sweet time wandering at the exhibition. From the CSI series, it lead me to liking science, helping me quite a lot in my biology classes. I admit, I daydream too much in class, but if I ever hear or read a familiar word in class that would link to the show, I'd actually listen intently even when the warm temperature in the lab makes people feel drowsy or sweaty. I really like what was shown at the exhibition and would want to go for a second round. But, (the fussy side) I believed that it could have been a lot more detailed. Hey, you can't get everything!!

Anyway, after that, we went for a little walk through the Science Center and later had our late lunch at four. Then, we went on the MRT to AMK, where we met Kim's relatives and had dinner. There was also dessert, at a shop that sells everything chocolate. It was just pure indulgence and luxury. Welcome to the world of chocolate?

After that, we stayed up late, Kim playing on the internet, me stealing away her book reading, also, both watching TV. Did we slept at 2? I can't remember. We went back to Johor on the 17th.

Because of our sweet Ngoh wanting to have tea(?) we did just that after a short rest at Kim's house. Both of us, Ngoh, gran gran and appa went to Old Town, called beverages, and talked for maybe 2 hours? After that, Kim sent us home.

This trip to SG with Kim, is also my first trip there without my family. Kim being the independent one lead the whole way as I followed. Without her, I'd never be able to have this trip, or even if I could have this trip, I'd probably be lost.
So, to my dearest Kira, thank you so much!!!
Sorry too, for depending on you too much.

Once again, thank you unnie.
