Experience of performing

I had participated in a group competition, the choral speaking competition. We had 2 weeks to practice, not as much time as the early birds (we came in at the last minute). The competition was held on the 28th of April 2008. We had to remember the script which was written by our teacher. It was quite an inspiring poem, saying life should be full of hopes, love... Anyway, I took about one week to memorise the script, ya, a long time. Later, we were taught to do the actions and I had difficulties in coordination of the body. Well, it took some time for me to learn and memorise everything.

On the day of the competition, we had performed during the weekly assembly. Our teacher had asked for comments on our performance from the other teachers. We heard the comments and practice again before we went for the competition. There was also lunch provided, thanks to the teachers in charge.

When the competition started, we were told that we were the 3rd group. Well, we performed and see the other groups from many schools. We did our best, but we didn't win. the teacher explained that there were 2 reasons. One, a few of the solo's voices weren't heard by the judges. Two, we were out of the age limit, that is 16, but we have half of the group which are 17, we didn't know there was an age limit!

This whole experience, remember I will. I had stepped out of my boundry, performing on stage, without the nerves I had when I was in primary school. Even thou this may not count as a big success, I felt that I had participated, learned and maybe even stared to overcome my phobia of performing on stage.
