HOW TO STOP PEOPLE FROM BUGGING YOU ABOUT GETTING MARRIED

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, 'You're next.' They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

Principles of Life

* Winning isn't everything. But wanting to win is.
* You would achieve more, if you don't mind who gets the credit.
* When everything else is lost, the future still remains.
* Don't fight too much. Or the enemy would know your art of war.
* The only job you start at the top is when you dig a grave.
* If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for everything.
* If you do little things well, you'll do big ones better.
* Only thing that comes to you without effort is old age.
* You won't get a second chance to make the first impression.
* Only those who do nothing do not make mistakes.
* Never take a problem to your boss unless you have a solution.
* If you are not failing you're not taking enough risks.
* Don't try to get rid of bad temper by losing it.
* If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
* Those who don't make mistakes usually don't make anything
* There are two kinds of failures. Those who think and never do, and those
who do and never think.
* Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win.
* All progress has resulted from unpopular decisions.
* Change your thoughts and you change your world.
* Understanding proves intelligence, not the speed of the learning.
* There are two kinds of fools in this world. Those who give advise and
those who don't take it.
* The best way to kill an idea is to take it to a meeting.
* Management is doing things right. Leadership is doing the right things.
* Friendship founded on business is always better than business founded on
friendship.

Music In My Life

I remembered when I was still in kindergarten, my mom would draw pictures and write the lyrics of a song that is connected with the drawing. I would colour the drawings, and of course learn those songs. Well, it only lasted awhile and the book was not used again. The book was hidden until I accidently found it a few years ago (which is now lost again). When I read through it, happiness filled my heart as I recall fragments of my childhood.

In primary school, whenever there's a party to celebrate, no matter new year, Christmas, weddings...... mummy would sing karaoke with her friends. I would only listen, slowly, I started singing along, but I never dare myself to go close to the microphone. Until when I was in primary 4 or 5, I started to ask mummy so that I can try singing with the microphone, at a few of her friends' house, I felt embarressed and happy at the same time. Out of the whole family, I was the one that attended the least parties. Year after year, I attended less and less of them, unknowingly, I went back to square one, I crept back into the shell.

In (I think) primary 6, I started liking a singer, JJ. I guess I was influenced because my mum also liked his songs. We even bought a compilation CD. I prefer the slow songs more at that time. I listened to it, nearly everyday and learned the songs and sang them when I was alone.

After leaving primary school, I was given a chance to change myself, try to start a new life, but I would have lost that chance if it wasn't for a girl in school that gave me a push. In a way, she changed my life. Because of her, I met new friends, slowly, I took small steps out of the shell. Because of her, I became alive and learned to mingle with other people. Because of her, I reconnected with music. As we know each other more, we found out that we share a lot of interest. She opened my eyes to a lot of different music and I started liking a few other singers, but JJ was still my favourite. We would sing songs that we heard from the radio. In PJ lessons, the girls will sing any song, as long as we're singing together. It was the happiest time in the whole week. After 2 lovely years with her, she transferred to another school, we barely contact each other, only through the internet. But even after 2 years, I still miss her...

There's another girl in the same class with me, the more I get to know her, the more I thought "she's so cool..." We sat together for nearly 2 years in class, imagine how much of the time in class is used for talking! She's the one that introduced me to many new genres and singers She also introduced me the group TVXQ. The first song I heard from them was My Destiny, followed by Tonight, which was the song that stunned me in form 3. Soon, I listened to more of their songs, and got addicted to the voices that just send chills to me.(I'll confess...I'm really addicted to JJ and TVXQ...a lot...)(that was random...)

My friends in class aren't just into modern songs, sometimes, randomly, a song from our parents' generation just comes out of nowhere and we'll be singing it, accompanied by laughter because of a few cute selfmade dances. We'll sing only a few phrases and rewind, play again, rewind, play again until we finally walk out of the gates of the school where it ends.

Music isn't just what I like, it calms me down, it helps me in soothing my pain, so much. After such a long time only I knew it's already a part of me, a part of my life. Daniel stepped onto the wooden flooring of the second floor. He turned left to see the room, the door was closed. He walked slowly, somehow feeling that he might frighten the girl inside. In front of the door, he took a breath and knock on the door. "Come in," a sweet voice came from the inside. He opened the door and looked at the art room. It wasn't like an ordinary art room, on the shelves were boxes of paint, paintbrushes, while the canvases, portraits are arranged nicely beside it. There was also a table, on it was a pile of beautifully handwritten notes. At another corner, he saw a violin and a white grand piano. He wondered what was this room actually for and finally saw a girl standing by the window, looking far out into the distance.

"I wonder what is the feeling, lying on the smooth grass, looking up into the night sky?" she said, still facing the window. Only now he found out how time flies, the sky was now nearly dark. "Well, it was nice when the winds play around you, but mosquitoes are all over, having a feast," he said cheekily. The girl turned and smiled. He continued but in a less cheeky tone, "Hi, I'm Daniel, I'm guessing you're the one I'm suppose to see to get a room?" The girl nodded and showed him to a seat. "I'm Eliza" she told him and they sat down to discuss.

30 minutes later, they finally made a deal. "Thank you so much and I'll remember to pay the rent every first week of the month," Daniel said before he left the room. "Finally, finally a room, no school library!" he walked two steps a time to get his luggage. "I see you're going to be staying here?" Mellisa walked into the living room with an apron. "Yup" he said without even trying to hide his excitement. "You're room is the opposite of the art room. By the way, dinner's in 15 minutes, and can you also tell Eliza too?" Mellisa said while taking the plates of dishes. "Sure," he took his luggage and ran upstairs to the soon-to-be-his-room.

"Hey, Dan, wanna go for basketball?" his friends asked him after the school bell rang.
"No guys, I've got something to do, urgent." he replied and rushed out of the school before they could persuade him.

Just as he stepped out of the gates, he heard the voices that made his spine freeze. It was them, again. "Man! What do these girls want??" he gasped and started to run. He heard the two girls shouting at him as he ran. "Hey boy, the good-looking one, you there, do you want to go cycling with me?"the first girl offered followed by the second "Or, we can have a date, between you and me, only me, at the cinema, we'll watch a love story and share popcorn?" Running non-stop until 2 blocks away, he finally stop to turn, how relieved he was to NOT see any moving shadows. He continued walking along the pavement, a little out of breathe after escaping from the girls that has been stalking him for 3 days in school. He took a small piece of paper from his pocket and studied the diagram with blotches of ink from a very bad quality pen. "Turn left at the first junction, then walk on until the apple tree? Ken, why can't you just remember the address..." he mumbled to himself.

After about 15 minutes, he finally reached the house with a garden filled with beautiful flowers and at the corner stood a very old tree, it's branches stretching out to form a shade of green. He went in front of the door and gave a knock. He waited for quite sometime and wondered if there was anyone in. Just when he was deciding to leave, he heard the door knob being turned. The door opened and in front of him stood a girl.He was stunned by her eyes twinkling like the stars in the night sky. "Hi," she paused, studied the guy in front of her and continued, "judging by that luggage of yours, are you looking for a place?" she asked and welcomed him into the house. "Yes" he answered and went in with his luggage.

The girl went to one of the cabinets, while taking out a few plates, she introduced herself, "I'm Mellisa, and you are?" He said he was Daniel and looked around the house which was filled with new furniture made of fine oak."You can put your stuff at that corner. Come have a seat, would you like to have Chinese tea?" she asked as she took a teapot with delicate carvings on it. "I'll try, I've never had tea in my life" he said remembering that his uncle fed him Chinese tea when he was 3 years old, which tasted so bitter that he doesn't even want to try any beverage with the "tea" word, but this girl was so sweet that he could not refuse. He sat down, took the teacup and tried drinking a sip. "How is it?" Mellisa asked while taking out a plastic container filled with muffins. "It has a strong aroma," he said, still not liking the bitterness of it. "It's too bitter for you, your face says it all" she laughed a little while handling him a muffin. "Thanks. Um, Mellisa, about renting a place..." before he could finish his sentence, Mellisa said, " That, Daniel, you'll have to go upstairs and turn left into the art room, you'll find her and ask all the questions you want. I'm going to the backdoor, you'll go yourself." He wondered who's "her" but didn't ask Mellisa as she looks busy. He went upstairs, hoping that he'll finally get a decent place to stay after sleeping 2 days on a wooden chair in the school library.

Bahan Lisan Untuk 2009

Kita hendaklah merancang cuti kita.

Ketika bercuti, kita perlulah meluangkan masa bersama keluarga. Kita dan keluarga mungkin sudah begitu lama tidak dapat bermesra dan bergembira kerana sibuk dengan tugasan masing-masing. Apa salahnya kita meluangkan masa untuk bersama keluarga? Rasailah “kehangatan” bersama mereka. Mungkin bunyinya remeh sahaja, tetapi suatu masa nanti, pasti anda akan merinduinya.

Cuti sebenarnya sungguh bermakna untuk hidup kita. Kadangkala satu perubahan besar berlaku semasa cuti, bukan semasa musim persekolahan. Terima kasih.

Eliza (13.Mar.2010)

She was there, just like the first time they met. She was so beautiful, glowing in the rays of the sun. She spread out her magical wings, without saying goodbye, she flew out...he smiled as he watched her...for the last time...

X XX XXX XXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXX

It was such a beautiful morning, the sunlight danced with the morning mist, she opened the window and the air was filled with the scent of the flowers in the garden. She picked out a lovely dress and went downstairs.

She stood in the middle of the house, she remembered, she was alone.

X XX XXX XXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXX

"What do you mean?" the girl with the wavy hair asked, tears rolling down her eyes.
"I...I can't stay here anymore..." he said, not turning back. He opened the door and went out into the cold dark night.
"Are...are you alright?" the girl with the straight, long hair asked her.
"Eliza, how...how...what am I to do?" she sobbed. She tried to comfort her, but she ran upstairs and took her bag.
"Eliza, I'm sorry, I'm really sorry I gave you so much trouble. Goodbye." she said before leaving the house.

"Mellisa..."
"Mellisa, don't leave me..."
"Don't leave me alone...please"
Eliza stood there, she couldn't do anything, she felt helpless, it happened so fast. She went to bed, crying under the blanket. She lost her friends, she felt lost in this world, this world that was suddenly filled with so much darkness...
