Helen: Chapter 4

"It's Christmas!" Eileen shook the two girls to wake them up.

"Wha...?" Zoe asked but went back to sleep immediately.

"Hmm..." Helen was still in her dreamland.

"Wake up!" Eileen shook the two girls harder.

"Alright... I'm awake..." Zoe said with a tired tone, "You don't need to make an earthquake!"

"Morning!" Eileen greeted Zoe.

"I'm hungry." Zoe pouted.

"Go brush your teeth!" Eileen ordered. After she shoved Zoe to the toilet, she went to her next target.

Helen was still in a deep sleep. Eileen noticed her puffy eyes and knew.

She had cried all night after everyone else was asleep.

"You sleep a little more," she whispered and put another blanket for the sleeping girl.

"Ahh.... Christmas!" Zoe came out of the toilet and stretched.

"Shhhh..." Eileen shushed her and pulled her out of the room. Closing the door, Eileen then took Zoe downstairs to have breakfast.

Helen: Chapter 3

"You gals want hot chocolate?" Eileen asked when they were in the living room.

"I want one, with extra chocolate. Please." Zoe's eyes sparkled at the word "chocolate".

Helen nodded and kept quiet. She was still sobbing.

"Jelly, what's going on?" Zoe asked while Eileen went to the kitchen.

"Nothing. I'm Jelly." Helen smiled, her heart ached, thinking about him.

"There must be something. I know you." Zoe tried.

"Yea. We've been together for too long." Eileen came out with three cups of hot chocolate.

"Seriously, you guys worry too much." Helen took a marshmallow and continued, "I wanna watch that movie you said!"

"That, later. You, now." Zoe was strict.

"Alright, you win. I don't feel like talking about it." Helen smirked. Her tears were dried now. Talking to Zoe and Eileen was the only way she won't think about him. The reason was they never knew about him, she never told them.

"Okay, you've defeated us." Eileen rolled her eyes and went to the DVD player with a DVD in her hand. It was a movie the three randomly picked from the rental store. It was titled "The Holiday" starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet.

"You really sure you don't want to talk about it?" Eileen asked Helen, eying her.

"Nope." Helen drank her hot chocolate.

"Okay." Eileen pressed the "start" button after making herself comfortable on the sofa beside Helen. The three snuggled together, watching the movie and enjoying the hot chocolate.

Helen: Chapter 2

"Five minutes to the show!" Samantha called out to the performers. She was the timekeeper, making sure the people on this project are on time.

"Helen!" Eileen pulled her and made her sit down on a chair.

"You haven't put on your make up! We only have 5 minutes!" Eileen took the makeup kit and helped Helen.

"Sorry! I'm so excited!" Helen said cutely, inside she just feel so emotionless, so hollow. But she couldn't express it, no, she will not destroy her friends' Christmas.

"I'm doing your hair!" Cathy came running with a red ribbon on her hand.

"Stand by guys! Make it work!" Ma'am Julia said Project Runway's quote, making everyone giggle.

"Curtains." Ma'am Julia told Jeremy.

The red curtains went up and the music started... ...

Santa U Are The One

you come around to every child in the world
always in time you're never late every year
how does it feel to work, everyone's off,no one to help you
how do you reach your soul, its for sure,no one does it better
Christmas is finally here
its time to celebrate cause
you make a better world year after year
soon you'll be on your way
spreading joy everywhere
there's no one like you
santa you are the one

(thank you santa, thank you) you are the one
(go go santa go go) you are the one
(thank you santa, thank you) you are the one
go go santa go go
i hope you enjoy this song
its a gift from everyone
thank you for all that you have done

christmas is finally here
its time to celebrate cause
you make a better world year after year
(year after year)
soon you'll be on your way (on your way)
spreading joy everywhere
there's no one like you (no one)
santa you are the one
you are the one
santa you are the one
you are the one

Sleigh Ride

just hear those sleigh bells jingling
ring ting tingling too.
come on, it's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride together with you.

outside the snow is falling
and friends are calling 'yoo-hoo.'
come on, it's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride together with you.

giddy up, giddy up, giddy up,
let's go, let's look at the show,
we're riding in a wonderland of snow.

giddy up, giddy up, giddy up,
it's grand, just holding your hand,
we're gliding along with a song
of a wintry fairy land.

Distance

i know it wasn't our time
we had to go our separate ways
you don't know that silently i
was crying out for you to stay

the years come and go but i'm still alone
my tears like snowflakes falling without a sound
i wish i was with you now

when it snows outside on this winter night
i'm looking for a trace of you
i'll never forget the time that we've met
catching us in the snow

when it snows outside on this winter night
i'm looking for a trace of you
i'll never forget the time that we've met
the winter when we fell in love

As the last note sounded, the choir ended the song, the audience stood up and clapped.

The choir bowed and went back stage.

"Good job everyone! Marvelous!" Ma'am Julia said while hugging everyone.

"Helen, you're crying." Eileen and Zoe were by her side. They noticed when she was singing the last song.

She only nodded and smiled brightly.

"Are you okay?" Eileen asked worriedly.

"Yes. I'm okay. I just need a little time to cool down." Helen laughed a little.

"Come on, we're going to my place." Eileen said while taking Helen's bag. The three said goodbye to their teacher and friends and left the hall.

"I'm driving."Zoe said while taking the keys from Eileen.

"Why? This is my car."

"Cause the last time we sat in your car, when you were driving, I almost puked." Zoe reminded her. Eileen was a... well... let's just say her driving skills need a little practice, especially on the brakes and accelerators.

"It's MY car!" Eileen said again, loudly into Zoe's ear.

"I'm driving. Get in." Zoe said and took the driver's seat. Eileen beside her, arms crossed and Helen behind them, tears still falling.

I was just having fun...

Helen: Chapter 1

Mini Introduction: This story is a "side dish" from "Zoe". The characters are from "Zoe". I know "Zoe" is not completed yet... I just had this random idea one rainy afternoon...

@@

I gave him up before he even had a chance

"We're over. Goodbye."

She left him.

It was winter, just two days before Christmas.

@@

"Helen, thank god you're home." Her mother hugged her, saying that there will be a blizzard soon.

"I'm tired. I'll be upstairs." She said and went to her bedroom, locking the door quietly.

Lying on the floor, she wondered if she had made the right choice. Her vision blurred, tears falling down as she replayed the scene in her mind until she drifted to sleep.

"Why did you want to meet me here? Let's go to the park there later." He was smiling so radiantly. They were in a coffee shop, there was no one else around except the only waiter at the counter at the far end.

"I'm sorry. We can't meet each other again." She said with no emotions.

"Why? Did I do something wrong?" He asked pouting.

"You didn't do anything wrong. I just want a break up." She said coldly. He saw it in her eyes that she was serious. Her words pierced his heart.

"Please tell me that this is just a joke? I don't want us to break up." He pleaded her, holding her hands.

"I'm not going to see you anymore. We're over. Goodbye."

@@

Helen's phone vibrated, making her wake up.

"ABC"

It was him.

She pressed the ignore button.

There were 10 messages, all from him.

She deleted every one of them and turned off the phone.

@@

"Hey! What are you doing standing there? Come on! Let's go!" Zoe pulled Helen by the arm as they rushed to the school hall.

"Everyone, Shhhh... small meeting!" Ma'am Julia gathered the students.

"You guys have practiced so much and today is the performance! Remember... have fun!" They all cheered.

"Now, go dress up and get ready!" She shoved the students, "Hurry up!"

Helen peeked through the stage curtains. She saw her seniors and classmates seated comfortably, hands holding a brochures about the Christmas performance.

Far away, at the last row of seats, she saw him.

Vacation 004

"Why aren't you packing?" Annie asked while rummaging through her closet.

"I only have a few stuff in this bag." He said while pointing his small luggage.

"Really? But haven't you been living here for like 3 years?" She wondered as he chuckled.

"I don't know if I still have the chance to come back..."

"What?" Annie turned around her to see him missing. "Leo? Where are you?"

"I'm going out for a walk! Looking at you to pack is unbearable! Tell me when you're done!" His voice came from outside of her room.

"Hey!" She pouted.

"I know you're pouting! I'll grab you a cookie on the way back! Bye!" She heard him shut the front door.

Annie zipped her luggage after an hour. She had finally finished packing. Looking around, she wondered if she had left anything.

"Annie!" She heard a voice, not of Leo's.

"Shoot!" She quickly hid her luggage in the closet and went to lay in her bed, pulling the blanket.

"Annie?" She came in, holding a glass of milk.

"Yes?" She said, eyes half closed, pretending that she had just woke up.

"Annie, are you feeling alright? You look so pale." She handed Annie the milk, touching her forehead and Annie's, checking if she's got a fever.

"I'm okay. I just feel tired." She said while putting the milk on the table beside her.

"Well, rest more, my sweetie. I'll be downstairs with my friends." She said and left, closing the door behind her.

"Well, are you all packed up?" A voice whispered. She looked towards the window to see Leo sitting there, eating a piece of chocolate cookie.

"How did you get there?" She nearly screamed.

"Shhh! Are you done?" He asked her.

"Yes. How are we going to get out of here with HER downstairs?" She asked him worriedly.

"I have my ways. Where's your luggage?" He smirked.

Annie took her luggage and Leo helped her. She climbed out of the room onto the roof.

"Monkey see monkey do." He whispered in her ear and took her luggage, climbed down the house using the pipelines.

Terrified at what she needs to do, she took a big, long breath to calm herself.

"Here goes nothing." She gathered all of her courage and held onto the pipe tightly. One step at a time, she slowly climbed down the pipes, making sure she doesn't make a noise.

Annie thought that she took 3 hours when it was only 8 seconds, her feet finally touched the green grass on the ground.

"Come on, my love." Leo held her hand and they sneaked away, far away from the house.

Vacation 003

"Annie, are... are you alright?" He asked her as she opened her eyes.

"L... Le... Leo?" She asked startled.

He nodded.

"Am I dreaming? Are you really... Leo? But... I... thought..." She stuttered as tears blurred her vision.

"You're not dreaming. I'm here for you. I'm always here with you." He said gently.

"It couldn't be... You're still alive? Tell me, you... you... didn't die?"

"Annie... it doesn't matter anymore. Annie, would you... would you like to go back to my place? I mean my home, in Kuala Lumpur." He asked, holding both of her hands.

"I would love to." She smiled and gave him a peck on the cheek.

"I love you Annie." He said and kissed her on the lips.

Old Header For "My Hidden Locker"

Wanna blurt out everything cause my mind can't stand the large data of life. Gotta find a place to store them like the Pensieve which is so useful in curing certain headaches. But still gotta keep some of those headaches in the head so that my life is imperfect. Yup, only when life is imperfect, life's perfect. Where did I get that from...

Bye Bye...

An Old Story 021

Dongjoo was at S.M.'s company, doing some research for his new movie project. He walked to the left corridor with the signboard "library".

"Dongjoo, are you going to the annual dinner next week?" Yongjin asked his friend.

"I'm not sure yet. Talk to you later. Bye." He ran towards the library.

"Where is that album... ... C ... ... ... H ... ... ... J ... ..." He whispered to himself, trying to look for the album in the collection.

"Anything I can do to help?" The part time librarian smiled.

"I'm looking for Fly To The Sky's album, where they had this song... ...drunk... something..." Dongjoo said in confusion as he scratched his head.

"Is it Drunken Truth?" She asked while taking out an album.

"Yeah, that's it. Thanks Ginny." He thanked her and left.

@@@@@

"Yongjin!" Dongjoo was stepping into his office when he saw Yongjin strolling.

"Hey!" Yongjin waved.

"Wanna have some coffee?" Dongjoo asked as he went into his office, followed by Yongjin.

"I'll have those coffee you brought from your travels. What were you rushing for, I mean just now." He browsed through Dongjoo's work.

"I suddenly remembered of a song I needed for the project. It took me weeks to remember a part of the title..." Dongjoo said as he gave Yongjin his coffee.

"Ginny helped you find it?" Yongjin sipped his coffee. "This needs a little sugar."

"Yeah. How did you know?"

"The company hired her because she was good at sorting things. The photos, DVDs, CD, films and stuff, ever since the day the company started until now, was sorted and arranged by her within a week. She also set up a computer system for each of the products. Now she's teaching us how to use the system." Yongjin said and sipped his coffee after putting sugar.

"Wow. Good choice by the company." Dongjoo was astonished at what Ginny can do. He heard that she had her own company with her friend. They planned wedding receptions and wedding dinners, make sure everything was perfectly done. Now she even worked at this company. It was as thou she loved working, double the average workaholic hours!

"Hey, are you going to the annual dinner? And who's you're partner?" Yongjin asked.

"I'm going with... Who are you going with again?"

"Yah! Yah! I asked you first. Anyway, I'm going with... well... I'm going alone." He said with a deep sigh.

"Want me to find someone to go with you?" Dongjoo asked jokingly.

"You? I bet you can't even find one for yourself." Yongjin sigh even more.

"Come on. It's not the prom! You're going to a company's annual dinner." Dongjoo said sarcastically.

"I've never been to a prom thou." Yongjin said, trying to make puppy eyes.

"Do you know that you tend to be disgusting?" Dongjoo was looking at his scattered papers on the desk. He was searching for something.

"Want any help? Where did you get this coffee from?" He put down his cup and neared the desk.

"I think I found it. I'll tidy the desk later." He had seen Yongjin scolded the juniors about leaving the desk in a mess. "And the coffee is from Indonesia. Nice?"

Yongjin nodded.

"Ring Ding Dong Ring Ding Dong..." Yongjin's phone rang as they both jumped.

Yongjin answered it as Dongjoo mumbled why does he have to use that ringtone.

He played the CD while using the headphones to listen to the song.

"Hey, I gotta go for a meeting. See you next time!" Yongjin finally ended the phone call after 10 minutes. He left in a hurry.

Dongjoo waved as he concentrated on his computer.

@@@@@

She was in the library, looking for a book about traditional cultures around the world. Her phone rang and she quickly answered it, hoping that she wouldn't bother anyone.

"Well, hello my dear."

"You again..." She let out a sigh, hating that he was calling her so often.

"Come on, you should be happy I called you. My dear." She hated how he always call her like that.

"I'm working on it, alright? Can't you just leave me alone?" She was frustrated of him already.

"Come on, we're a team, my lovely girl." The voice made her shudder. "Have you eaten?"

"I've eaten and I'm busy. What do you want? Or I'll hang up the phone." She saw the book and took it out of the shelf.

"I want to treat you lunch, can't I?" He asked with a child-like tone.

"I told you I'm busy." She said and hang up the phone.

"Well, you don't need to be so stressed out." A hand appeared and held her wrist. Another hand took the book about traditional culture from her hand.

"I missed you." She felt his breath from her neck.

"Get off me!" She struggled and he let loose.

He put the book back onto the shelf and got in front of her.

"Come, let's have lunch." He never let go of her hand and led her out of the library.

An Old Story 020

The two guys were at the airport. Their flight has been delayed and they were at the information counter, asking about tickets to Mexico, Australia, Macau and some other countries. Jaegyu was reading some pamphlets while Dongjoo was wondering did he forgot anything before they went back to Korea.

After waiting for 1 hour, they went through the checkpoint and boarded the plane.

As they sat down, Dongjoo sighed.

"What's going on?" Jaegyu asked as he noticed that his friend had been behaving strangely.

"No... Nothing. I think I'm going to miss this place..." Dongjoo's mind was drifting away.

"Yup..." Jaegyu sighed as well.

"Hey, who did you say you were meeting the other day?" Dongjoo asked after thinking for a few days.

"You dare to ask... only after a few days?" Jaegyu tried to mock him.

"You were playing mysterious and stuff, I couldn't be bothered. Now, may I know why were you going out?" Dongjoo asked while flipping through the book that he had finished reading 3 hours ago.

Jaegyu then told him about Vivian.

@@@@@ @@@@@

"Where are they?" Yuhyun wondered when he saw that the classroom was dark and quiet, without the usual students chattering.

"Congratulations Mr. Song!!" Chaerin was at the light switches. The whole class was there, Jungmin holding a chocolate cake and confetti was everywhere.

"Thank you guys. Seriously, you don't have to make such a fuss." Yuhyun said while putting his finger to the cake, took a small piece off and tasted it.

"We do. Besides, you're loving the cake." Yoona saw Yuhyun taking another piece.

"Okay, okay. I'm liking this cake." Yuhyun said and took another piece and fed it to Jungmin, "Here's to the head of the class."

The class laughed as the scene looked like a father feeding his child and wiping his mouth.

"Come on guys, eat up!" Yuhyun said and everyone went for the buffet.

As everyone took their food and started eating, Yuhyun then announced, "Class, let's continue with our chapter on African Landscape while enjoying our lovely meal."

Jungmin booed, making the whole class laugh.

When I'm Really Sleepy...

A: I really want to write a story!

W: Then write!

A: We're in a meeting here...

W: So what! They won't notice.

A: Seriously?

W: Yeah. I'm sure of it.

A: Now where's my pen again...

W: Just take mine.

A: Okay! Thanks!

W: What are you going to write?

A: I have no idea... Somehow I'm imagining a girl falling off a cliff...

W: Can you be less depressed? Can't you write something else?

A: I don't know... I haven't been thinking lately...

W: Well, I'm going to go have a walk then...

A: Where are you going?

W: I'm going to Drifting Peak. Would you like to go?

A: No thanks. But you've given me an idea. Thank you!!!

W: Well, have fun then...

Vacation 002

"This is going to cost your life!" Eric shouted at Leo.

"I'd sacrifice everything for her," Leo muttered and left the room.

He walked to the edge of the clouds. He gazed at the island, surrounded by crystal blue water.

"Sorry," he heard her voice flowing in the winds. Her voice was full of sorrow. At that moment, he didn't care about being grounded from leaving the place. He just wanted to comfort her.

He spread his wings and flew to her. As he came closer to the island, he saw her free falling from a cliff.

He swept down faster to catch hold of her. She was unconscious now.

"Annie," he called her name.

She was sleeping so peacefully.

Looking at her like that, it made him smile.

He kissed her forehead as he brought her to the cave on the other side of the island.

Vacation 001

"Sorry," she whispered, looking at the horizon on a cliff at Ra In Beach.

She stepped closer to the edge of the cliff.

Tears fell out of her beautiful eyes.

She closed her eyes, reminiscing of the times with him.

"Annie!" someone called out.

She knew the voice. The voice of the man she hated most. The man that took him away from her.

Before the man could reach her, she stepped forward, diving into the wind.

"No!" the man shouted, knowing it was too late.

This week is crazy!
And I mean crazy in a good way

(Last Thursday)
We signed up for choir competition which will be held

in

6 days.

Two trainers came from PJ3 to teach us.
But before that, each and everyone must sing in front of them so that they can differentiate us according to the different range we have.
Repeating: SING ALONE!!!
I froze at the ALONE word.
My friends went up first.
One by one, the line became shorter and shorter.
And I went up, my hands were so cold already that time, my heart was beating unstably.
I sang, without my squeaky pitchy voice, for once in a very long time.
Then after the first word of the chorus, I made a mistake, breathing through the nose... and the trainer told me to restart... I was freaking out so much...
Then when I finished the chorus, I pointed to my left, trying to do sign language: can I leave now?

After everyone finished, she told us where we are and I was in the "soprano"="upper range" part.
"Great, I'm going to crack my voice."

(Last Friday)Out school teacher had asked for permission for us to skip every class until wednesday.
She then gave us the schedule

Friday: 10.10am to 4.00pm
Sunday: 9.30 to 1.30pm
Monday: 7.30am to 4.00pm
Tuesday: 7.30am to 1.00pm

"Shoot! This is not going to be sweet. We also have drama festival on Saturday! Man! We're really stressing our voice to the max!"

(Yesterday: Sunday)
We sang, sang, sang...
learned, learned, learned the movements
memorize, memorize, memorize the lyrics
memorize, memorize, memorize the steps

We stood for at least 3 hours....repeating the stuff above...

Our legs sore because of last Friday's practice. I guess we're just not used to standing for so long! Some of us even had muscle cramps...

(Today: Monday)
The same thing happened as the one written above!
And it gets messy....some of the sopranos cracked their voices during some of the practice.
We got lectured, of course!

Our English lecturer came into the studio, saying about a debate forum thingy... (InternationalStudentVirtualForum) <-- not sure if it's correct...

I put my name in the list, still wondering if I really wanted to join...

After that, we went to our math class...as Mr. Gan finished class, he thought us how to dance waltz...first with the boys....the girls learned from the side. I went down with some of the girls as we needed to continue our choir rehersals.

The trainers also bought candies, those for coughs and sore throats, so that we don't crack our voices!

Nothing

This means something and nothing

It's already a year huh?

I still think of you

Wondering how are you doing

Wondering if what I did to you was

I know

It was

Stupid

Heartless

Believe it or not

There will never be an explanation

That was me

And I'll always be like that

As crazy as I am, somehow

I still have feelings for you

I don't know what they are

therefore

I hate them

I still care about you

Not because of who you are to me

But

Because I was programmed to be like that

Have you moved on?

I do hope so

because as many times as I will look back

at all of the memories

I know that I will not step back

Even if I already know it wasn't right

The stupid naive girl

That doesn't even think of the consequences of her actions

Now writing this nonsense

To wake up the next morning

Only to

Say that it's just another random story

Without a start nor an ending

An Old Story 019

Seohyun waited for Erin in her car.

"Bye Jayme! See you tomorrow!" Erin waved to her friend before getting into the car.

"Hi mom!" Erin greeted cheerfully.

"So where do you want to go for lunch?"

"Anywhere?"

"Funny, I don't see that on the map."

"Mom! It's not funny!" Erin pouted.

"I got it. What's for lunch?"

"Can I cook??" Erin asked exitedly.

"But...I think....sure, why not." Seohyun teased her daughter.

"Yes!" Erin was excited to finally make her mom a proper lunch for the first time.

Seohyun laughed at her excitement. "So how was school??"

"Ricky's the DJ for this week! I got 84 for English Language! And... and... and... 79 for Korean language." Erin was a bit disappointed about the 79 marks cause it was so near to the "A" grade.

"Awe... come one girl, cheer up. You're the only girl in school that takes Korean Language. I know it's tough to learn by yourself. Come one, what did you do today?"

"And I baked cookies just like what we did during the holidays! And I still suck at drawing!" Erin laughed at her last statement as Seohyun followed.

@@

"Mom, where's the ketchup?" Erin was flipping though the cupboard.

"It's on the left drawer, I'll take it for you." Seohyun took the ketchup and passed it to Erin who was starting the fire.

"Now, try not to burn anything." Seohyun warned Erin even thou she knew that Erin will not burn any of the food. Erin was a very careful and meticulous girl, even at that age.

"Okay." Erin answered and started cooking the potatoes.

Seohyun looked at her from the doorway of the kitchen, feeling proud of her Erin.

@@

"When did you learn to cook like this?" Seohyun couldn't resist the temptation of having another serving of Erin's chicken pie.

"I took the recipe from the internet and learned it a few days ago. It took me a few tries... oops... nothing."

"Erin, how did you practice?" Seohyun pretended to be suspicious.

Erin gave an uneasy laugh and told her that she had begged Fakri to teach her.

"It's okay if Fakri is not busy and in a good mood." Seohyun knew that Fakri as the only cook in the kitchen is very stressful and she don't want Erin to disturb him when he was resting.

"Erin, do you think it's okay if I go to Korea for a week?" Seohyun asked all of a sudden.

"Eh? Are you going there? When?" Erin nearly choked while her mouth was full.

"Just asking. Dongjoo asked if I want to go there for a week, to catch up with my friends there." She said after making sure Erin was fine.

"Sure, why don't you go? Remember to bring me some souvenirs!"

"Wait, you don't want to go?" Seohyun was curious.

"I have exams, mom. And there's this candy making competition in 2 weeks, I can't wait for it." Erin was sure of not going to Korea.

"Mom, do you want to go?" Erin looked at Seohyun who wasn't focusing.

"I'm still thinking. Never mind about that. You want that last piece of broccoli?"

"Is it good? You take it mom." Erin said and continued eating her food.

An Old Story 018

Dongjoo wondered who would be at the door. He wasn't expecting anyone at all.

"Coming." He lazily walked to the door and answers it.

"Good morning, sir. I am the manager of this hotel. I apologize for interrupting but you must evacuate this room immediately." The man at the door said calmly.

"We just detected a gas leak in our hotel. I'm sorry to disturb, but for your safety, you should get out of the hotel immediately."

"Alright." Dongjoo nodded and the man bowed. He then left to knock on the next door.

@@

Dongjoo sat at the table just outside the restaurant. He put the backpacks down by his side, massaging his shoulders.

"What did you bring... It's like bringing the whole house with you! Aish, Jaeygu... "

He looked inside the restaurant. There were a few customers and a waiter or two. But she wasn't there.

One of the waiter came to him and passed him the menu. He didn't feel like eating and he ordered a cup of iced lemon tea.

He took out his notebook and started to look through the news at the main page.

"Here's your tea, sir." Someone put his tea on the table.

"Thanks." He said while browsing through the net, not looking up. The person left to the next table.

Suddenly, he paused. That voice was so familiar.

He looked to the direction the person had gone to. She had her back towards him. He couldn't see her face, but he was certain it was her.

"Seohyun!" he called out to her.

She turned and smiled at him. She signaled to him to wait for five minutes and disappeared into the kitchen.

@@

"Hello! How's your trip here?" Seohyun was smiling so brightly.

"Really interesting." Dongjoo said with a bit of sorrow tone.

He took a deep breath. Seohyun looked at him with worried eyes.

"What's the matter?" She asked as she pulled out one of the chairs and sat down.

"Seohyun." Dongjoo called her name, both his hands held hers.

"Seohyun, do... do you want to go back to Korea with me?" Dongjoo stuttered with his words.

"What?" Seohyun was surprised but kept her calm.

"Do you want to go back to Korea with me? To start anew. Why don't we start all over again?"

She turned her head away.

"But Dongjoo."

"Please?" Dongjoo still held her small hands.

"I can't. I don't know you." She didn't look at him.

"I have my life here, the restaurant is my dream and Erin too... I'm sorry." She was ready to leave the table but Dongjoo never let go of her hand.

"Seohyun, I'm sorry, I don't know what got over me." Dongjoo knew he couldn't just ask her to just leave everything, but he had to try. He still loves her.

"Seohyun, would you like to go to Korea, maybe just for a week? You're friends never saw you for so many years..."

She stood up and replied, "I'll think about it. I need to work now. So... I'll leave first. Please do enjoy your tea." She bowed and left.

月牙灣

SONG MV

An Old Story 017

"Fakri, could you help me with this?" Seohyun asked the chef to help her carry boxes and boxes of new products from the supplier. It was 3 o'clock in the afternoon and the restaurant was empty.

"Sure. I need a raise thou." Fakri said jokingly.

"Hey." Seohyun called with a worried tone. "Fakri, are you... are you in debt? Please tell me the truth."

Fakri looked away and kept on carrying the boxes.

"Fakri, come one, you've been working here for years and you're my friend. If there's anything, tell me."

"I'm not in debt, but my son is." The 38 year old man sighed.

"You mean Azam?" She asked, remember seeing Fakri's second son as a materialistic teenager.

"No, although he spends a lot, he works part time for it. Zaid's the one owing money." He sighed even more.

"What?" Seohyun was surprised. Zaid was the eldest child. He was a grade A++ student and everyone said that he'll be the most successful out of Fakri's 5 children.

"Hard to believe huh? He borrowed money from loan sharks. Loan sharks!!"

He stood there wondering what to do. His son needed 50 000 dollars to clear the debt. To Fakri, 50 000 dollars is an amount he could only dreamed of having. How is he going to get the money? Even selling everything wouldn't cover half of it. Taking up a few jobs at a time wasn't helping much either.

Seohyun comforted him. "It's going to be alright. Trust me."

Fakri tried to smile. He continued carrying the boxes but Seohyun stopped him.

"Hey, you're tired. Go home and rest for the day. I'll take it from here."

"I need to work."

"Don't worry. I'll pay you double if you go home and rest for the day. Besides, Alen's going to come in 15 minutes." With that, she took his apron and shoved him out of the kitchen. She also managed to hand Fakri a box of cream puffs.

"But he can't even cook an egg!" Fakri shouted from outside the restaurant.

"I'll be head chef for today. Bye Fakri!" She gave him a wink and turned back into the kitchen.

An Old Story 016

"Just five more minutes, five more..." She thought in her head. Probably everyone in class is.

"I want to see your 10000 word essay on my desk by tomorrow at 12 noon. Anyone that fails to do what I say fails this semester." Mr. Richard lectured the class of half-asleep students.

"Hey, wanna have lunch with me? I'll treat you." A stranger tries to hit on her.

She shook her head with an innocent smile. "I'm busy later." With that, she packed her bag and went to Mr. Richard's desk.

"Here is the essay, sir." The girl said as she passed a set of neatly written 10000 word essay to Mr. Richard.

"Thank you, Vivian." He smiled as the girl bid goodbye.

@@@@@ @@@@@

Outside, she took a big breathe of fresh air after being stuck in the small classroom for 3 hours.

"Vivian! Over here!" he waved at her.

She saw him and smiled brightly.

"Hey! So where are we going?" Vivian asked Jaegyu.

"Have you tried sitting in a gondola?" Jaegyu asked with a cheeky smile.

"No. But..." Before she could say anything, Jaegyu grabbed her wrist gently and told her to follow him.

He took her to a river, and led her onto one of the gondolas there.

"Jaegyu, is this safe? Will it topple over?" Vivian looked at the water and asked non-stop.

"Don't worry." He said and held her small, beautiful hands.

"I don't swim." She warned him.

"I do. I was a life guard when I was in high school." He assured her. She looked into his brown eyes.

Vivian lost all her nervousness and fear of the water even by looking at Jaegyu. Something about him lets her feel protected, not that she was in any danger.

The boat rowed for about 2 hours on the long peaceful river. Jaegyu and Vivian sat together enjoying the natural beauty. They had conversations on any subjects they had in common. It was a pleasant atmosphere.

Later, they went to a nearby restaurant to have lunch. They chatted again as they sip their cup of tea.

"I'm going back to Korea in 2 days." Jaegyu said with the least enthusiasm he has. He just got to know a bit about this girl. This girl that hypnotized him with her eyes. Yet, he has to go back home for his work.

Jaegyu tried to read the girl's expression. She had nothing on her face, not one single movement.

"I guess this means she doesn't have any interest in you huh?" He wondered to himself.

"I have something to tell you, Jaegyu." She looked into his eyes. She reached out her hand and held Jaegyu's.

"What is it? Vivian?" Jaegyu asked but his mind was still wondering if she likes him.

"I just signed up a program organised by Mr. Richard." She said smiling.

"And?" Jaegyu was curious what made Vivian so happy.

"It's a program to study abroad for 5 years. I signed up and got myself a place in Korea." She felt like jumping when she told Jaegyu.

"Really? Seriously?" He asked, eyes wide open. He wasn't just jumping inside, he was already rocketing!

She laughed and nodded.

"I'll be going there in a week. Could you pick me up at the airport?" She said while trying to act like a cute puppy with her eyes.

How could he say no to her? He said he'll be waiting there for her.

An Old Story 015

"A marriage is a happy thing, isn't it?" Giljong asked Taeyeon

She nodded.

"Why are you crying with that sad face?"

"Cause I don't want to get married with a total stranger." She said angrily. After a sigh, she continued. "My parents arranged a marriage for me, with someone that I've never met. Ain't it a typical drama."

She laughed at her own statement. "I'm overreacting just cause I'm stressed out of school projects huh?"

"I guess." Giljong replied. "Have you talked to your parents?"

"No. I'm kinda worried about how they're going to react."

"Tell them about what you think, politely of course." Giljong said with a stern tone.

"Yeah, maybe I'll talk to them tonight." Taeyeon mumbled to herself.

"Now that you're smiling a little." Giljong didn't finish his sentence and pulled Taeyeon up.

"You have geography class."

As both of them parted to their own classes, Giljong patted Taeyeon'a shoulders, comforting her everything's going to be fine.

"Hey, that's your girl?" Eric smirked. He was one of Giljong's friend.

With a fist up, he said to Eric, "She's my sister."

"Got it, don't even try to get close to her." Eric was one of the flower boys in the campus and a typical playboy.

Giljong went to his seat to review his ongoing project while Eric stood by the doorway, waiting for any cute girl to pass by.

Taeyeon stepped into her class.

“Where were you? We've been waiting for you!" Her classmates gathered around her.

"I was having my meal." She replied.

Suddenly, she remembered.

"I'm so sorry!" Taeyeon said out loud and rushed to her bag to get the order receipt.

The class had planned a celebration party for their lecturer, Mr. Song.

Mr. Song Yuhyun is their geography lecturer. He is the youngest lecturer in the campus. He finished his PhD at the age of 25. Just last week, Mr. Song was officially recognized as one of the best lecturers in the district.

"Found it!" Taeyeon got the order receipt for the buffet and handed it to Jungmin, the organizer of the party.

An Old story 014

"Hey, I'm going out today. You okay about me leaving you here?" Jaegyu asked while drying his hair.

"Look who's talking. You're not worried about being lost?" Dongjoo teased him.

"I'm meeting someone. Gotta go. Bye!" Jaegyu said and left the room.

Dongjoo was left alone drinking his coffee, wondering who's Jaegyu meeting.

Jaegyu and Dongjoo had gone sightseeing for the past week. They didn't leave the town because there was so many interesting sights and delicious food, especially coffee. They were free for once in a few years and they let themselves out. From stall to stall, they were running around like little kids, in the night market.

Thou as much as he wanted, Dongjoo never saw Seohyun. He'll be flying back to Korea in 2 days for the new movie as well as... ... his marriage.

Just as Dongjoo was walking to the TV set, there was a knock on the door.

An Old Story 013

"Hey! Wait for me!" the girl was running towards her.

"Uh o." Erin said to herself.

Erin was back at school after 2 weeks of holiday. She was once again back in uniforms along with her blue schoolbag. She was just going to her classroom when she heard the girl. She had forgot to meet Jayme at the bus stop.

"I nearly got caught by the prefect! Where did you go?" Jayme nagged at her while panting.

"Oops. I'm so sorry Jayme. I totally forgot about meeting you. But we'll going to be late for class." Erin pulled Jayme's wrist and they headed to their class.

As soon as they sat down in their seats, Miss Kayla walked in.

"Where's Miss Leila?" Erin whispered while Miss Kayla was teaching Mike how to sketch using a traditional 2B pencil instead of his favorite mechanical pencil.

"How would I know." Jayme said while drawing a portrait of her favorite character from Lizzie McGuire.

"She's never coming back." Charlie interrupts sarcastically.

"Why? Please tell me, the one and only gossip girl." Erin put on an innocent smile.

Charlie came closer to Erin and said in a low tone.

"She's a murderer."

"Impossible. Where did you even get that?" Erin and Jayme said with confidence. Both of them knew Miss Leila. They would go to her house every fortnight to bake cookies and pies.

"It's true! I saw her with bloody red hands when the police came and pushed her into the police car. Who would knew Miss Leila is such an evil person." Charlie said and walked away when she saw the two girls with stares of wanting to beat her up.

"Girls, can I see your drawing?" Miss Kayla was standing in front of them.

"I drew a pikachu." Erin was slightly embarrassed with her pikachu when she saw Jayme's beautiful portrait.

"It's quite good, Erin. How about you, Jayme?" Miss Kayla smiled.

"Here" Jayme handed her drawing to the teacher. "Miss Kayla?"

"Yes?"

"I was wondering, where's Miss Leila?" Both Jayme and Erin were eager to know where is she.

"I'm not sure, but she said she won't be back for quite awhile." Miss Kayla said while thinking what was Miss Leila, her best friend up to.

Suddenly, the speakers along the corridors rang.

"Good morning my pals! It's eleven o'clock and recess time. I hope you are hungry, cause the canteen's menu includes Mexican tacos and burritos. To our teachers, please don't give us too much schoolwork since it's just the first day of school."

It was Ricky's voice. He was the DJ for this week.

The school has a special radio DJ room for a program to let students report what is happening in the school. Each week, a student will be the DJ and report ongoing activities for the week, notices and school announcements. They are allowed to discuss anything they want as long as it's educational. The school does let loose in the morning, where the latest songs will be broadcasted every morning for 2 to 3 hours.

"Well class, I hope you finish your drawing and hand them in by Wednesday. Thank you." Miss Kayla said as the students exited the class for recess.

An Old Story 012

He bought a mini pizza from the canteen. He was looking for an empty space. Further away from where he stood, he saw a girl sitting alone at a table. He then walked over to her.

"Taeyeon." He greeted the girl with a bright smile.

"Hi." She responded. She looked gloomy so he wondered what happened.

"Hey, what's up?" He asked her quietly.

"I really don't feel like talking about it." She said and stood up.

"Come on, we'll go somewhere less noisy." He said and grabbed her wrist.

He took her to the field. They laid down and looked up into the sky.

"How are you going to eat like that?" She asked him.

He then started eating the pizza while laying down.

"You're choice." She laid comfortably and gazed at the big blue sky.

"Hey, what's going on? You make me worry." He asked while munching his food.

"Giljong." She called out his name.

"Hmm?"

She doesn't know how to tell him. To her, he was a very caring big brother. He still hasn't know because he's been busy with his projects. Or else, he would have seen the news and knew about it.

Tears came out of her eyes.

"Taeyeon, come here." He said as he hugged her to comfort her.

"Oppa, I'm getting married."She sobbed in his arms.

An Old Story 011

"You're soul mate? How old were you again?" Jaegyu couldn't believe what Dongjoo was telling him.

Dongjoo was lively when he's working or going out with his friends. Everyone in the industry admired him for his dedication in his work and the way he treats everyone around him with respect.

But Jaegyu had seen another side of him. When both of them were drinking at the bar, Dongjoo was quiet, he never talks. Even if he did, it wasn't anything about himself. Now, at a coffee shop in a foreign country, he told of his hidden past.

Dongjoo smiled at his friend. He knew people thought that it's just puppy love or kids thinking too much. But deep down, even at that age, his heart, mind and soul knew that the feelings are true. She was the only one for him.

"It was perfect. For a few months. Then..." Dongjoo stopped.

"This is getting boring." Dongjoo said.

"I gotta rush to the toilet." Jaegyu said as he left.

"Caffeine" Dongjoo laughed.

Dongjoo looked to the fountain just opposite of the coffee shop. Around the fountain were beautiful red and white roses.

Reminiscing the memories with her was something he never did until today.

Now, looking at the scene in front of him,

he whispered...

"Jangmi."

An Old Story 010

"Your ex?" Jaegyu asked another question.

"Yes." Dongjoo answered with a deep sigh.

"According to the crazy paparazzi, you have never went out with any girl, never had a first love, never dated. They even gave up on watching you after 4 years of stalking... You never publicize anything about your love life. In fact, I think you never told anyone, including me. Would you mind explaining how an ex appears suddenly?" Jaegyu said with a what-the-heck look.

"Long story short, it's painful." Dongjoo's tone was depressed.

"Come on, let it out." Jaegyu persuaded him.

"Here goes." He took a deep breathe. Then, slowly, he reminisced about his hidden past.

"She's my first love. We studied in the same middle school. After being friends for awhile, we started dating. No one knew, our friends, my parents. We met nearly everyday at different places, the school library, the park, at theme parks, even in small candy shops. For every date we had, we took a picture. As both of us started to get busy with our studies, we went out less, but our feelings for each other somehow became stronger.

When we finished our studies in high school, I brought her to Bora Bora. There, I proposed to her and she accepted. We got married there, said our vows while the sun sets in the evening. The priest was there too."

"Out of curiosity, your first night was at 18?!" Jaegyu cuts in all of a sudden.

"There was no 'first night', as you call it." Dongjoo said with a serious face.

"Okay. Please continue." Jaegyu said and prepared to listen to every word that comes out of Dongjoo's mouth.

"We never told anyone about it when we came home. No one suspected anything. In my family, we're suppose to move out of the house when we reach 18, no matter if your working or studying. I got a small apartment with the money I saved from acting part time in high school. Both of us lived happily together. We kept on living our lives as usual, both of us continued studying, but at different places. It didn't matter. Being with her, my wife, is the best moment of my life. I was living with my soul mate."

An Old Story 009

He had been walking for more than an hour until he saw the coffee shop. He didn't mind. Along the way, he looked and admired the scenery. There wasn't any skyscrapers, luxurious cars or people in suits and gowns. He took deep breathes of the fresh sweet, countryside air. This is what he came for, to relax himself, for the first time.

He saw a familiar face at one of the tables and waved to him.

"Jaegyu!"

"Yah! What took you so long! Where did you wander off to? It took you nearly 2 hours!" Jaegyu was furiously shouting at him without bothering people staring at him.

Dongjoo chuckled and bowed 90 degree.

"Mianhae." He said with a guilty tone.

Jaegyu noticed people looking at them and he sat down abruptly. He drank his coffee in one gulp.

Dongjoo then sat down and ordered lunch for both of them.

Dongjoo and Jaegyu have been best friends for 5 years. But due to their work, they only communicate through the phone or the net. They meet with their friends at the bar once in a few weeks or months for some drinks. Just a few weeks ago, they planned this vacation because Jaegyu's contract has ended while coincidentally Dongjoo just finished a 35 episode drama. Both of them had nothing on their schedule and they decided to travel after visiting their own families.

"Hey, what's bothering you?" Jaegyu asked while taking a big scoop of rice.

"I met my ex yesterday." Dongjoo answered while playing with his food like a child.

Upon hearing that, Jaegyu nearly choked. He took Dongjoo's glass of water and drink one third of it.

"Did you say ex? You used to have a wife?" Jaegyu asked intently as he finished his plate of curry rice.

An Old Story 008: Who's Dongjoo?

"Mom?" Erin called out cautiously.

"Hmm?" She turned around.

"What are you thinking?" Erin asked while she was washing the plates.

"Nothing. I'm going to go out to buy some things. Is there anything you want?" She asked while taking her car keys.

"No, mom." Erin replied as her mother waved goodbye.

"She's not herself today. I wonder if she's too tired these few days." Erin talked to herself as she wiped the plates and arranged them nicely on the rack.

After that she went on the internet. She played some games and chatted with her friend, Delia who migrated to Canada a year ago. When Delia went offline, she had nothing to do.

She thought of Dongjoo. She knew he looks very familiar. Feeling bored, she typed "Dongjoo" in the search engine, expecting to find nothing. Little did she knew, pictures came out and it was the same Dongjoo, but he was wearing a tuxedo, standing on a red carpet. There were some where he was posing with a golden trophy.

"He's a famous person?" Erin gasped. As a curious child, she clicked into a website to read about what seemed to be his profile.

"...... Kang Dongjoo...... son of Kang Junghwan and Min Eunjung... graduated in Korea National University of Arts in Acting... started... small roles in drama ... at the age of 15... began career as an actor at the age of 18... won several awards... successful career... switched to directing... scriptwriter... collaborated... many works... producer... first movie in progress... personal life... never publicized... recently... announced his marriage... "

"Now I know why he's so familiar. He was on the news a week ago," she paused.

"Erin, I'm home!" Her mom called out from outside. Erin shut off her computer and helped her mother with the groceries.

"Are you busy with anything?" Seohyun asked Erin.

Erin shook her head and peeked inside the shopping bags. She saw the things inside.

"I'm making cookies. Wanna join in?" She asked, but she knew the answer already.

Without a word, Erin dashed to the cupboards and get the utensils needed.

"This is to reward you for helping me in the restaurant. These past few days were really hectic." Seohyun said while poking Erin's cheek with her flour-covered finger.

"Hey!" Erin drew a smiley face on her mother's arm using the flour.

"Mom, where's the chips? Did you get them?" Erin's eyes were scanning the table for the container filled with tiny black and white chocolate chips.

"Sweetie, don't rush. You haven't even mix this." She pointed to the mixing bowl.

"Alright. But where is it?" Erin pouted, worried that she might not be able to make chocolate chip cookies.

"I'll go get it." Seohyun giggled.

"You hide it!" Erin moaned while her hands are busy making the dough into small round shapes.

An Old Story 007: More Than A Cup Of Coffee

"What am I going to do now?" Jaegyu asked himself.

He has been sitting at the table for half an hour and has already finished 2 cups of coffee. To add to it, he also finished reading the book he brought from home.

He looked around. Some people were using the internet while others were relaxing or having conversations. The atmosphere was very peaceful.

"Annyeonghaseyo. Sorry to bother, but is this seat taken?"

Jaegyu understood what the voice was saying and felt too happy. He hadn't talked to anyone since yesterday. Out of nowhere, he hears his language in this foreign country.

He turned to see a girl holding her netbook. He shook his head and as gracefully as the swan, she sat down.

"I'm Vivian." Her voice was mesmerizing.

"Nice to meet you Vivian. I'm Jaegyu." He looks at her. She seems to be a local university student but she has this mysterious aura.

"Yah! Stop looking at her!" Jaegyu was thinking to himself. She looks so beautiful thou.

"Just wondering, where did you learn Korean?" Jaegyu wondered how did she spoke it so fluently.

"I'm taking classes. Did I say something wrong?" Vivian sounded a bit worried.

"No. You are very good at the language." He said it immediately.

She called the waiter.

"I'd like a cup of green tea, please." The waiter nodded and left.

"If only I could speak a little English." Jaegyu mumbled to himself after that.

"I could teach you a bit. And you could teach me Korean too." Vivian said to him as she looked him in the eyes.

She has such hypnotizing eyes. Jaegyu smiled and agreed.

They talked about the different cultures around the world. Vivian's green tea was served and Jaegyu offered to pay for it.

"Thank you." Vivian said shyly.

"I should be the one to say thank you. We had a nice conversation. I haven't been talking to anyone for a whole day because I got lost. I couldn't speak the local language too."

Suddenly, Vivian's phone rang. She answered it. Jaegyu couldn't understand a word she said because she was talking very fast.

After awhile, she finished her phone conversation and looked at her watch.

"I'm sorry, I have to go for a class." She stood up and thanked him again for the tea.

"Umm...Could you give me your number? So I can contact you for my English classes?"

"Sure." She smiled and took out her phone. They exchanged their numbers.

She left in a rush. Jaegyu looked as she left, her long silky hair swiftly flowing in the wind.

An Old Story 006: "I Also Got Lost"

The next morning, Dongjoo decided to go to the Jasmine Restaurant. When he reached there, there was nobody. He read the sign:

Open from 7.00am to 10.00pm
Closed on Tuesdays.

With a sigh, he turned around looking at the street in front of him.

"You are my life; no matter how long; I will wait for that day; for us to be together again"

His phone rang.

"Yeoboseyo?"

"Dongjoo? Where are you? Do you know that I've been calling you from yesterday until now! I can't speak English and I don't know where I am since you burnt the map!" The voice was filled with rage.

"Hey, Jaegyu, calm down will you? I also got lost."

"Good for you." He said from the other end.

Dongjoo was quiet for awhile.

"Do you still remember how to go to the place we had lunch yesterday?"

"Yeah?" Jaegyu said, waiting for him to continue.

"I'll meet you there in 1 hour."

"What? An hour? I can reach there by 10 minutes! How far did you wander off?" Jaegyu said half afraid. He couldn't speak English, with the exception of a few random words like "hello", "coffee", "candy", "zoo" and "good".

"Order a drink or something. Put it on my tab." Dongjoo said cheerfully.

"Yeah yeah. Meet you later."

The phone conversation ended.

Dongjoo then went to the shop beside the restaurant. It was a bookshop. He browsed through the shop and found a map. He took it and went to the counter. The cashier was a teenager. He took quite sometime to give Dongjoo his change because he was being careful and double checking the amount.

Dongjoo then took his own time to walk to the place where he's meeting Jaegyu.

An Old Story 005: Car

After Dongjoo left the car...

"Mom, whose Dongjoo?" Erin ask her mom. She suddenly remembered that mom had not told her how did she know Dongjoo.

"Let's just say, long story short, he's my ex husband."She said it quick while focusing on the road.

"Whaa....? Mom, can you repeat?" Erin yawned.

"Dongjoo's my ex husband."

"What?!?!" Erin practically shouted in her mom's ear.

"How could...Wait...What? You're marr...how?...When?" Erin was shocked and gazillion questions were popping inside her head.

She laughed at Erin's reaction. It was expected. Erin has been living with her for 8 years now. She adopted Erin who was 2 years old. She took great care of Erin and Erin loved her as thou she was her real mother.

"Mom..." Erin called out in a deep tone.

"No! You're going to interrogate me! I'm innocent!" She shout out.

"Not yet." Erin said while laughing.

"Why is that?" She asked.

"Cause I left my notebook and pen at home."

They continued their role-play conversation until they reached home.

An Old Story 004: Nite Nite

They arrived at the Red Rose Hotel.

"Hey."

"Hmm?" He turned to her.

"Take care."

Erin woke up from her sleep at this time.

"Dongjoo, can you give me your phone number?" she said in a sleepy tone while taking out her cell phone.

"What do you want with it?" He asked.

"Can't I?" He laughed at her cuteness and told her his number.

Dongjoo then took his backpack and said bye.

The hotel building is made up of a few shop houses. It was modified with the addition of hallways and small rooms. There were 5 rooms left and Dongjoo checked into one of them.

"Room 5...room 5...room 5...room 5" Dongjoo kept repeating to himself in the hallway until he reached room 5. He went in.

There was a single bed, a TV set, a cabinet, a phone and a bathroom, everything fitted perfectly in the room.

Dongjoo took a bath and laid on the bed.

"I missed you, Jangmi..."

An Old Story 003: After Dinner

"Why are you smiling like that?"

He was looking at her. He was spacing out into the unknown universe.

"Dongjoo!"

He still didn't answer.

"Dongjoo!!"

"Hmm? Don't need to shout, I can hear." He said softly, still looking at her as though she never shouted in his ear.

"Alen! 3 orange juice, 2 apple juice and 3 kiwi juice." Erin told Alen the orders.

"I have to help at the counter and kitchen. Where are you staying? I'll drive you there later." She said as she stood up to tidy the table.

"Erin told me there's this hotel called...what's the name...Red Rose?"

She took his cup but was stopped. He held her wrist.

"Can I have another cup?" he looked up into her eyes. They were as beautiful as it was then.

She made a face and shook her head. She took the cups away and walked into the kitchen.

He looked at her, just like he used to.

"Hey! Why are you staring at my mom like that?" Erin was standing beside him. She also handed him a bowl of noodles.

"What? What was I staring at?" Dongjoo asked innocently.

"Tell me the truth!"

"Erin, don't be rude to people. Come in here and help me a bit, pleaseee" It was already 9 but there were still customers coming in.

Pouting, Erin went to the kitchen.

"Such a cute girl" He ate the bowl of noodles and finished it fast.

He stood up and walk around the restaurant. It was basically white, with small, bright colored objects hung on the walls or put on the shelves. These include teacups, photos, saucers and even books. There was a big board on the wall that listed what the restaurant serves.

While Erin and her mom were busy, Dongjoo had a long conversation with one of the restaurant's regular customer.

The restaurant was nearly empty by 10.30pm. Erin came out of the kitchen when the customers left.

"Finally!" She exclaimed and yawned.

"Tired?" Dongjoo asked.

"Of course not. It's really cool to work in the restaurant. Everyone in school is jealous of me."

"Why is that?" Dongjoo asked the girl who is full of enthusiasm.

"Cause they don't get to work until they're 16" she said and went to tidy the books on the shelves.

"Mom told you to wait for awhile. She'll be out in 15 minutes." Erin said while rubbing her eyes.

@@@@@ @@@@@

After awhile, she came out of the kitchen, took her green sling bag and turned off all the lights. Dongjoo was outside the shop, lighting a smoke.

"You said the Red Rose Hotel?" she asked while locking up the door.

"Yes." He immediately threw his cigarette into a bin.

"Get in." she said as she heads for the driver's seat, Erin in the backseat.

An Old Story 002: A Conversation

Mom sat down at his table as I went to the kitchen. I couldn't hear what they are doing.

How did mom know that guy? But then, she was from Korea. Now that I think of it, he looks really familiar.

Oops! I took the cocoa powder! Aish, I drifted away again.

"Looks like someone isn't paying any attention!"

I turned to my right to see Alen being scolded by the cook, Fakri. I guess he burnt the egg again.

I served the coffee to mom and Dongjoo. I think I heard him saying becoming a producer?

"Erin, could you come here and teach him how to cook an egg?"

"Coming." Looks like Fakri still has a few dishes to prepare while Alen was panicking with the salt.

@@@@@ @@@@@

"Long time no see. So...how are you?" Dongjoo said with a weak smile.

"I'm good. I've open my own restaurant. You? Is it tough in the industry?" She asked with a worry tone.

"I'm still doing okay. I get to pay my bills on time. I'm starting to aim for producer."

"That's good, I guess" She was very quiet.

"Seohyun, I hope you don't mind me asking, Erin..." She shook her head and sipped her coffee.

"Erin's my adopted daughter. I saw the news, your getting married huh? Congratulations! I'm happy for you.

"To tell you the truth, I don't even have a girlfriend. The beautiful girl you saw was an arrangement by my parents. They said I was too immersed in my career and should get married. Omma dragged me to blind dates. I was very busy and told them to choose the girl they like. But I never knew they were going to arrange a marriage. Mianhae, I talked too much."

She laughed. "I guess you feel lighter now that you've talked about it."

He smiled brightly while looking at her.

An Old Story 001: The Meeting

He was wearing casual clothes. Comparing him to the other guys in suits rushing about, he's really good-looking. I guess he's a tourist.

I couldn't stop looking at him.

"Erin! Snap out of it!" I slapped myself before I started daydreaming.

But does he know that he's been walking in circles? Should I offer to help? But mom said I'm such a busybody and I have to finish the food delivering too.

"Umm...hello. Could you help me a bit?" It was a deep voice. There was a very strong accent too. I looked up...it's him! Whoa...he's tall too.

"I believe I'm lost."

"Umm...where do you want to go?" I asked as I took a step back, suddenly remembering about the recent cases of foreigners kidnapping girls. You can never be too sure, right?

"Well, I don't quite know. Is there any place that I can stay? Since it's getting late."

He seemed harmless, maybe he's really lost.

"There's a hotel just a street away. I think it's called Red Rose Hotel."

"Thanks." He then walked away.

Now, for the delivery. Mrs Kwan, 7th Street...

"Sorry to bother."

"Hmm?" It was him again. Wasn't he going to the hotel?

"Where can I try some good food? Please? I'll treat you for troubling you." Is he giving puppy eyes?!

"You can come to my mom's place. It's just around the corner. I have to do some delivery, bye" It's getting late, I hope Mrs Kwan won't be angry. Her house was 2 blocks away. I ran as fast as I could but I was 5 minutes late. She paid me only after her 10-minutes-lecture. I looked at my watch. It was 7.15pm. I looked up, the moon was out early. There was a figure in front of me too. Him again....he's getting creepy...

"Don't you have anything else to do?" I asked him as my eyes were searching for an escape route, just in case.

"I have nothing to do. I didn't get to say thank you. Anyway, I'll treat you. Lead the way, miss... What's your name?"

"Erin. You?" Well, starting a conversation wasn't bad since it's a long walk.

"Miss Erin, I'm Dongjoo. Just wondering, is there curry around here?"

What? Why then sudden question about curry?

"Curry? Yeah, there is. Where are you from?"

"I'm from Korea."

"That's a coincidence. My mom's from Korea too. But she doesn't have an accent like yours. Where did you learn English?"

"I went to America for a few years."

"I think you need to practice more." Oops...my sarcastic mouth...

He chuckled.

We walked for about 15 minutes until we reached Jasmine Restaurant. My mom single-handedly started this restaurant and she was really proud of it.

"Mom! I'm home!"

"Sweetie, why are you late? Just wait awhile, I'll be out in a minute."

I took the menu and passed it to Dongjoo. I guess mom's really busy in the kitchen.

"Sweetie, what took you so long? You made me worry."

"Mom, this guy here got lost. He felt hungry and I brought him here. He's from Korea too!"

"Who is it?" She came out of the kitchen holding an empty tray.

"Dongjoo?!" She looked really surprised.

"Yeobo?" Dongjoo murmured.

"Mom, you know him? Why is he calling you yeobo?" I looked at her but she seemed...

"Erin, why don't you go get some coffee for us. Thanks."

"Okay..." I replied and went to the kitchen.
