Zoe

This is an unfinished piece from Form 3. The idea was circling around adventure and magic, I think.

##########

“Wake up, or you're going to be late!"
"It's Sunday!"
"O ya, I forgot."
"Never mind, I'm coming."
"I'll go call the others." She went out of the room.
Zoe got out of bed, changed and went out of her room. As she was passing the bedroom beside hers, a shriek was heard. "It must be that crybaby Ann......"

As she was going downstairs, she heard her father reminding Elle to "spend wisely”. “Morning Zoe."
"Morning dad," she greeted her father as she takes a piece of sandwich.
"Dad, I'm going to the library to meet my friends."
"Need a ride?” he asked. "I'll walk. Anyway thanks."

* * * * * * * * * *

"Where is she?"
"Beats me"
A girl was running towards them, her hair was in a mess, like she just came out of a cat fight.
"Hi, sorry I'm late, Ann started her tantrum and I was the only one left to stop her."
"You're 5 minutes, 35 seconds and 6 milliseconds late!"
"Come on, Lynn, it is only 5 minutes"
"You kept us waiting! And you didn't even…even…you’re a mess!"
"Lynn, sweetie, calm down…pleeease…" Hailey stopped the argument-to-be and the three of them went into the library. The place was oddly filled with teenagers probably trying to finish their school projects. The three found a place in the geography section and started their homework.

"Why are you sitting at my table? Get off my place! Go find somewhere else." a very high-pitched voice was shouting into their ear. "Cherlyn, we were here first and this is a library, everyone uses these tables." Lynn said. "This is my table, there's my hair clip over there, in the middle of the table, in case you're blind." The three girls followed where the finger was pointing to and saw a blue clip at the corner of the table. Zoe couldn't control her temper, "YOU can't expect us to see that tiny metal!” Her voice was loud and demanding, all eyes were going on the steaming four now, dying to see what happens next.

“Well, you've seen it already, now MOVE!” Cherlyn said and pushed Zoe’s bag onto the blue carpet. “Now I've had it, you come over here” Lynn said as she started to pull up her sleeves, wanting to free the volcano inside of her through her fist on Cherlyn. Suddenly, she was pulled back by Hailey, who had noticed the strict librarian turning her head towards the geography section. Hailey cooled Lynn down “She’s just spoiled, and you can easily turn her upside down without even touching her.” Lynn has a cunning smile, scaring Cherlyn, but not budging her even a bit from the table she “adores”.

The three girls went out of the library as Lynn couldn't stand to be in the same place with Cherlyn.

“Having enough fresh air?” Zoe asked Lynn who was breathing like a balloon inflating. “Let me see, not breathing out, Hailey…… she’s going to do it the 30th time”

Lynn opened her mouth, out came these: “That Cherlyn, that Cherlyn, so if you’re the most beautiful girl in school, most “admirable” girl in school, richest girl in school, blah blah… you are full of nothing, you hear me, nothing!” She added another sentence this time, “By the way, Zoe, this is the 35th time in this year, adding up to 351 times in a lifetime.”

They walked to a cafe a few blocks away. The girls went in and were greeted by the owner, a 20 year old college student, Shawn. The girls always look for him when they have difficulties in their studies. “So what brings you here on a Sunday?” he asked and saw Lynn with the pulled up sleeves. “She’s in a bit of a bad mood,” answered Hailey with a wink. “I’ll go get your drinks” Shawn slipped behind into the kitchen and the sound of the ices being shaken was heard.

“One freezing shake, one orange juice and one chocolate shake,” Shawn came out again with a smile, hoping that Lynn has already calm down. He can never forget the first time she exploded over some book that she had anticipated.

“So, what are you girls doing? Usually you’re in bed on Sunday mornings,” Shawn asked as he knew that Saturday nights are a 24 hour non-stop for the girls. They would stay up until who knows when, and sleep only after dawn.

ever since the Chinese paper
we hear nothing of it
soon
the sealed scroll will be revealed
what is there to anticipate
I don't know
at the moment
I feel empty
But am I ready to face it
to see what is written
what is going to happen
what will be my future
remains a mystery
what has been written on the scroll
matters
but what matters most is how you see it
and how you decide

blabbering blabbering

I'm outta my mind

Yea, random idea to be drawing contrast within 2 hours!

In the first drawing, I was thinking about drawing a girl with a sling bag, but when I started, I jumped to a sudden pop up idea. I forgot about the sling bag girl!! Don't know what kind of explanation can I do for the first drawing, but I can only think of "dark scene with brighter colors?" I give up...

As for the second one with the undone face thingy, I was thinking how long has it been since the last time I drew an eye. And started off with the right side to the left. I didn't finish it, because I have no idea what to add. So, I saved it for some other day in the future.

Must stop soon, house chores!!! Do not stick yourself to the keyboard again!! Get off it!!!!!!

4 Days Before 20th

Yup, just four days before 20th of February, we finally got the chance to go to the CSI Exhibition. The first time I saw the commercial on TV, I pretty much freaked out at 12 midnight. CSI was on top of my Must Watch List ever since Primary 6. I really wondered what is the exhibition about, how fun it would be if I ever have the chance to go, but I never actually thought of going there. Let's just say, I hesitate a lot when it's about requesting something from my parents.

Soon after that, we had our exams. It was during that time, Kim told me about planning to go there. The plan was to go there after finishing the final paper. That was in December. But after the paper, because it was the holidays, each of us had things to do, well, maybe Kim only. I was having a family vacation. So the trip was dragged to January, which was later dragged to after the Lunar New Year.

Finally on the 16th of February, we went to the Singapore Science Center for the CSI Exhibition. I wasn't on hyperactive mode, or I would have been running around or jumping and stuff. As soon as we got the tickets, there was what I would call a "briefing session" through a recorded video from the supervisor. There were 3 cases reported and we're suppose to investigate either one of it.

We went and did the first case, then after completing it, we went for the second and third as well. It took us 1.5 hours for the first case, but I can't remember if I ever asked Kim about how long did it took us for the other 2 cases. It was mainly using the computers for analysis, tests, and hypothesis. Unlike Kim, it took me a long time to get used to the touchscreen.

There was no time limit, so we took our own sweet time wandering at the exhibition. From the CSI series, it lead me to liking science, helping me quite a lot in my biology classes. I admit, I daydream too much in class, but if I ever hear or read a familiar word in class that would link to the show, I'd actually listen intently even when the warm temperature in the lab makes people feel drowsy or sweaty. I really like what was shown at the exhibition and would want to go for a second round. But, (the fussy side) I believed that it could have been a lot more detailed. Hey, you can't get everything!!

Anyway, after that, we went for a little walk through the Science Center and later had our late lunch at four. Then, we went on the MRT to AMK, where we met Kim's relatives and had dinner. There was also dessert, at a shop that sells everything chocolate. It was just pure indulgence and luxury. Welcome to the world of chocolate?

After that, we stayed up late, Kim playing on the internet, me stealing away her book reading, also, both watching TV. Did we slept at 2? I can't remember. We went back to Johor on the 17th.

Because of our sweet Ngoh wanting to have tea(?) we did just that after a short rest at Kim's house. Both of us, Ngoh, gran gran and appa went to Old Town, called beverages, and talked for maybe 2 hours? After that, Kim sent us home.

This trip to SG with Kim, is also my first trip there without my family. Kim being the independent one lead the whole way as I followed. Without her, I'd never be able to have this trip, or even if I could have this trip, I'd probably be lost.
So, to my dearest Kira, thank you so much!!!
Sorry too, for depending on you too much.

Once again, thank you unnie.

Slept at 2~~

Happy Valentine's day^^

21 Criteria... 1-10/21

We were chatting. Then there's this topic about 20 criteria for a boyfriend. But 21 is more interesting, cause 21 = adult. But when I got home, I realize I'll be having a hard time listing it. So, here's what you'll get, from dramas or movie...with a twist (I try...but I can't think of 21!! It's too tough!)

21 Criteria:

1. Handsome

Whispers: He's so cool! He's the coolest! He can never be compared! He looks like those Anime characters, just too cool! O my, those eyes! Electrifying! I'm having a Cloud9 moment!

GF: Em...How am I going to date if my classmates are here in the restaurant stalking you?

2. Kindhearted

BF: Cutie pie, please bear with them.
GF: I'm okay with them living here in our apartment, but we do need a little privacy, you know? You gotta control a bit about helping homeless and less fortunate people.
BF: I know I've been letting them stay here for a few months. But I find it really hard to tell 30 people that they need to go some other place.

3. Rich

GF: There you go again into the bathroom.
BF: Why not?
GF: Indulgence. Taking a bath in dollars is not the proper way to be clean and hygienic!
BF: How many people get the chance to do this?
GF: I'm out of ideas. I give up. When you can't win 'em, join 'em. Wait for me!

4. Respect the elders

BF: Ma'am, good evening. How are you?
Mother: You chose a sweet boy.
BF: Please seat ma'am
Mother: Thank you. This sofa is nice.
BF: Would you like some tea?
Mother: Yes. Such a good boy.
BF: Cake ma'am?
Mother: Thank you. You are such a good cook!
BF: Umm...we bought it from the store. She said it's your favorite.
Mother: So cute.
GF: Mother, are you going to praise him for every gesture?
Mother: It's very good to respect the elders, rite?

5. Funny, makes you happy

GF: Why do you want to wear that red nose thingy?
BF: Cause I want to make you happy. You wrote it in your blog.
GF: But, today is my sister's wedding day, wearing the clown nose is not quite appropriate.

6. Writes love letters to you

BF: I failed my language test.
GF: I'm so sorry to hear that. Let me give you a kiss.
BF: But it's not fair.
GF: How?
BF: It said to write a letter to your loved ones. I wrote it, sincerely.
GF: To whom?
BF: To you.
GF: Aww...You're so sweet. But aren't you suppose to write according to what the title says? The point was "Write a letter to a brother whose currently abroad".

7. Musically talented

GF: You love music more than me, isn't it?
BF: No, that's not true.
GF: But you've been practicing piano more than we go out dating.
BF: Just sit back and relax.
GF: Wha....
BF starts playing "To my bride"
BF: Will you marry me?

8. Knows how to do house chores

Mother: The house is so clean. But you couldn't have done it, who did it?
GF: My BF.
Mother: Can I hire him to clean my house?

9. Doesn't get angry easily

Classmate: I'm gonna bet 50 dollars that you can't get your boyfriend to be angry.
GF: Watch and learn.
BF walks in.
GF: Honey, I broke your glass-made car.
BF: O dear. Never mind.
GF: But it's your most prized possession. There's only one in the whole world. It represents you.
BF: But it's still just a car.
GF: Aren't you angry about it? And all the other stuff I broke for the past week?
BF: They can be fixed. Don't worry about it.
GF: You really can't get angry, huh?
BF: I guess.
GF: I give up. Here's your 50 dollars. (hands to classmate)
BF: You were BETTING? HOW COULD YOU?
GF: And I'll take back the 50.

10. Sings with you, to you

Classmate: I'm so sure, I bet he can't sing!
GF: Are you that sure? I'll accept the bet.
Classmate: We'll see.
BF walks in.
GF sings.
GF: The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
BF: You're BETTING again.
BF sings along.
BF: And the truth in your eyes......(continues)
Classmate faints.

Ninth Day Of New Year

Did this four in the morning!!
I miss doing these stuff...

Essay/Story 004: Couple?

She stood in the middle of the crowd, looking around. She was looking for a person. Suddenly, she saw a familiar face. He saw her too. Step by step, he walked towards her. They were only centimeters apart. They felt each other's breath inside the air-conditioned hall. Both looked into the other's eyes. She couldn't say anything. They hugged each other tightly. He promised that they'll never let go of each other, ever again. Tears flowed down her cheeks. For so long, she waited. Until this day, they finally met.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the public library, the girl was sitting alone, reading the new book that was on the display shelf. A shadow passed by her. She looked up to see a boy, basketball in one hand and a "Biography of William Shakespeare" in the other. Stuttering a bit, he asked, "Hi, just wondering, are you borrowing that book?" Shyly, she answered,"This one? Yes. Are you...Do you want to borrow it?" He sat down beside her, shaking his head, saying that he just finished the book last week. "What do you think of it?" she asked him with a curious look. He smiled thinking how cute she was. "You liked it?" she asked again. He nodded. "Yo! We gotta go! Basketball in 5 minutes! Come on!" his friends shouted from outside of the library. "I gotta go. But, what's your name?" She said, "Amelia." He then introduced himself as Jeff before rushing out of the library to meet his buddies. "See you again!" he shouted from outside as the librarian showed an annoyed face. She secretly smiled and soon continue reading her book.
A few days later, Amelia was once again in the library but reading another book. "You borrowed it?" she heard a familiar voice. "Yup, and I'm halfway there. Jeff, rite?" He smiled brightly, happily said "one point goes to the lovely lady Amelia!" The librarian told him to keep quiet using a stern face. He saluted her, meaning to say he was sorry. He sat opposite of the girl, looked at what was on the table. There were a few pens, school textbooks, and a tattered looking paper. "What's that?" he asked Amelia.
"Secret." Jeff made an I-really-want-to-know face. "Please?" he asked. Amelia giggled at his actions and answered that it was her book list. Before Jeff could ask more questions, Amelia's mother parked in front of the library. Amelia packed up her bag, getting ready to leave.
"Amelia..."
She turned around.
"D...do you want to have coffee? I mean, if you're not too busy reading."
She nodded, replying,"This Friday, 4pm?
"Yea" he said while......
**I believe I will stop this for now. Can't continue it.**
School Essay: Family Gathering
Modernization, because of it, technology is always improving, skyscrapers are built everyday and we are moving at a faster pace every second. Our time is spent on schooling, tuition, works until we do not have time for our loved ones, our family. This is why we have family gathering once in awhile to catch up on times and strengthen the relationship.
It's been 2 years since my family had a gathering. Mummy suggested we have one and she started to list out the relatives' names before anyone could say yes. I was told to find their phone numbers according to the list while daddy said that we should have a dinner at our house since it would be more "homely". We all agreed and started to plan the gathering.
After a few days, we received phone calls from our relatives saying that they would come for the family gathering, there was Uncle Keat, Uncle Terrence and his family, Aunt Ling and our grandparents. Our house will be filled with so many people! On the day of the family gathering, mummy and I went out to buy the ingredients for the cooking. As I was always going to my room for computer games, I didn't know how to choose the fresh vegetables and meat. Mummy taught me with full of patience. Later, we went to buy ice-cream for dessert.
When we returned home, we found out that the dining table is not enough for 15 people. My brother said that we could use the ping pong table and with the help of daddy, they carried the table into the dining area as I helped mummy in the kitchen. It was tough to work as there were many people coming for dinner. Luckily, Aunt Ling came early to help or we will be tired out.
Soon, our relatives came one by one. The living room starts to be filled with laughter as Uncle Keat was telling everyone about his life in Hong Kong. My brother and sister were playing scrabble with cousin Ian and Calvin. Both of my siblings were cracking their brains as they were so good at the game. I took a peek from the kitchen and my heart was filled with warmth to see the relatives chatting to each other happily.
"Dinner is ready!" I shouted as mummy was frying the last dish. Everyone in the living room hurried to the kitchen to try and help serve the dishes but was refused by Aunt Ling. She said the small kitchen will be too crowded to even walk. End up, only my younger sister was allowed to help us serve the plates of rice and bowls of soup. The dishes were also served onto the tables. My sister tried to use her exceptionally cute face and asked mummy for ice-cream but she failed. The whole family was laughing as she tried 3 more times but still failed.
During dinner, there was less talking and more chewing. Everyone dug their chopsticks into the dishes nonstop as they were delicious. Uncle Keat even asked for a third bowl of rice. The fried fish, lemon chicken, prawns, tofu, vegetables are all finished within 30 minutes. After that, daddy excused himself and went to the fridge. He took out a box and I shouted out "cake!" Only then I realized that a few days later would be my grandmother's seventieth birthday. Uncle Terrence helped to put the candles and light them up. We all sang the birthday song and grandmother blew out the candles after wishing. The cake was cut and served to all. My sister still asked for ice-cream even after the cake and finally mummy allowed her to have dessert.
After the "family food fair", we all went to the living room for a movie. We watched "Ice Age 2", a comedy film. Throughout the movie, we laughed our hearts out. "Time to go," Uncle Terrence said after the 2 hour movie. The kids begged to stay as they hadn't played enough games. Uncle Terrence reminded them that they have a busy schedule the next day and they must have enough sleep. We all hugged each other tightly and bid goodbye. Our relatives left and we went to bed with a beautiful memory to remember.
Factual Essay: Why my hobby is a good one
**School homework. Just want to keep it.**
In our daily lives, we work or study and after that, we continue with our daily chores. After what is needed to be done is completed, we normally have free time or leisure time. This is the time we would use to relax or do any activity we like, our hobby. My hobby is drawing, it has so many benefits that is barely known by many.
Drawing helps me to relieve stress. After facing our school books, reading the dancing alphabets page by page for the whole day, taking out a pencil and a paper is one of the ways to forget about them for a moment. Doodling on the paper can bring us into our own little world where only calmness is felt. Then, when we feel better, we can go back to our books and continue to focus on studying.
Besides that, drawing also has been proven to train the right brain. The right brain is where we get our creativity. When the right brain is used more often, you will soon see that you can have more solutions to overcome a certain problem. Many said drawing is just a waste of time, but after researching for years, this old saying has been proven wrong.
Other than that, drawing also can make the hand more flexible. Drawing or sketching can lead a person to learn to control his strength which can be useful. Students usually need to draw a curve line in a graph. It is because of drawing, I learn to follow the flow in the fingers and draw a smooth curve line.
Believe it or not, drawing is also used in the medical field. A patient who suffers from depression, autism or mental illness is told to draw what they want on a paper. Later, a professional psychologist or a counselor will interpret the drawing which could tell them what is the root of the problems they are facing. The professional will then give them proper advice or medication, if needed to treat them.
In short, drawing has dozens of benefits. To me, it is not just a simple hobby, it is what I love to do. Drawing has given me so much, if you have the time, why not try it?
School Essay: The morning was warm and sunny...
The morning was warm and sunny. A perfect weather to start my day. After I washed my face, I went downstairs, imagining the aroma of the coffee and the tasty toast. But, there was nothing, only a gloomy, sad and desperate expression on my mother's face. What happened?
Worried, I asked my mother why she was sad. Only after a few times of asking the same question, she finally told me. "Elle ran away from home, Ann. Your father had an argument with her." After the words came out, I knew what had happened. I wasn't shocked. Not because I was heartless. It started 2 months ago......
Elle was the top student in school. She was loved by all teachers and of course her parents who have raised her. Father gave her a credit card when she was 18. And since then, she started using it to buy the things she wanted. Everyone thought that she will know how to use the card in a proper way. But everyone was wrong.
Within 2 weeks, she had used up almost RM 30,000 over expensive stuffs such as clothes, shoes, bags and other branded things. Father knew he should step in by then, and he gave her a lecture about saving, investing money for the future. My mother and I thought that she should have changed her crazy way of spending money. This is because she promised father that she would use the credit card responsibly.
Then it was the time the bills came in. Father saw the amount of the credit card bill and was astonished. The whole family was in the living room, checking their own bills. Then father said, "Ann, you and your mother should go and prepare dinner." Both of us went into the kitchen. Later, we heard him scolding. It was frightening for me, worse than the thunder sound in heavy rains. "How could you have spent so much? Elle, we trusted you, we know that you are responsible. But how could you have spent RM 50,000?" Father's voice echoed in my ears.
That scolding didn't stop Elle. I knew it in her eyes, she was not going to stop. I was right. Every week, father would check on her. And every week, the amount of money spent was multiplying. Until yesterday night, father had enough. I was told to go to sleep at 8 o'clock after dinner. Mother said I was too young to understand what is going on. I slept early as I had 6 hours of badminton training. I was tired out.
Father told Elle that he was going to take back the credit card. Elle was now brainwashed; She said she would run away from home if he did that. But he was certain, he must stop the credit card from being used in the wrong method. "Then I want to end our relation! I am not your daughter anymore. Goodbye!" as soon as she said that, she stepped outside of the house, not even considering twice.
Now, mother was worrying sick and father was looking for his beloved daughter, hoping she would change. I hugged my mother, telling her that everything will be fine. But in my heart, I doubted, "will my sister ever come back?" Only until now, I realized money is the root of all evil. It is now ruining my sister and my family. I can do nothing but be by my family's side.
Essay/Story 003: Stone
The bunch of students were from a girls' school nearby. They were here to see the ancient collection in this museum. I heard the curator said a few days ago. As always, I will always be critique by people. I took a deep breath, prepare myself for the harsh words from these students. The curator, Mr. Robinson, took the students to a statue a few feet away from me. The statue was Mrs. Robinson's creation. It was a statue of the late mayor. It was finely carved, it was Mr. Robinson's most precious possession. He was explaining about the mayor's contribution to the town and that everyone respected him. The students listen intently.
Soon, the curator finished about the mayor and I was next. He stood next to me, as the students all gathered in front of me. I felt embarrassed because all eyes were fixed on me. "This here is a mysterious piece. It appeared in this museum one night in 1990. It looks like a giant cocoon but it turned out to be just a slightly unfinished, ordinary stone when we studied it. No one knows who made it or how it got into the museum which was secured with guards. I'll let you students explore and study the collections for awhile. I need to take care of a few documents." Mr. Robinson hurried into the administration office as the students walk around, with curious eyes.
A few girls who looked like rich pampered princesses came in front of me. "This is a waste of time! Coming to this museum! It smells! I'd rather be doing my nails and go shopping at the new mall! It's stuffy and I feel like fainting!" one of the girls complained. Seriously, this girl has a voice that irritates my ears! But I can't scold her or do anything. I'm trapped and I don't know how to get out of here. Everyday I ask myself, what did I do to have to be trapped in here?
"Let me tell you girls, this piece is an extraordinary large of stupid stone which was put here for our amusement, " the girl just now mocked. Her friends laughed along with her. How I wish I could tell her that she laughs like a hyena! Note to self, you need to calm down, it's no good being angry over her. I decided to turn my attention to another group of students, but alas, the girl was poking me. When will she go away? "Stop it Cassandra! This is a museum!" a voice sounded from 10 feet away.
I looked as the girls turned to see who was it. "It" was a guy, an Asian, but he had blue eyes which was so mesmerizing, maybe it was contact lens. Wait, he is with the group? I thought this is a girls' school. "Whatever! Loser. Lets go girls, I need new, easy, breezy, fresh air. Out of this ugly museum!" the girl finally went out of my sight. "Thank you," I whispered. Somehow, he heard what I said. "What? Who said that? I must be hearing things," he mumbled to himself as he went to help a young student that fell down. He's such a nice guy. But how is it possible that he can hear what I said? I've been trying to talk or even shout for 17 years in here, but no one seems to be able to hear me. Who is he? Is it possible that I can seek help from him? With all the hope I have, I tried to shout, " wait, please help me!"
I looked at him, he turned. He was slightly scared because there was no one around him besides the young student. "Here, I'm at the cocoon stone!" I shouted again. He walked towards me, confused. "Where are you?" he asked with a gentle voice. "Please don't be scared. I'm inside the cocoon thingy." I told him, nearly crying. "Inside? Am I out of my mind? I'm talking to a stone, for goodness sake!" I was afraid that he would leave "no, wait! You're not. Please help me." I pleaded him. He then said, "I'll try. What's your name?" "I don't know." I never knew what my name was. I had no memory of anything except that I was trapped in here all alone. "How should I help you?" He asked me again. With a sigh, I replied, "I don't know."
Out of a sudden, he's expression turned from confused to full concentration. I didn't know what was he going to do and I panicked. "What are you doing?" He looked around, there was no one. He told me to stay calm and close my eyes. I did what he told. For a moment, it was silence and then, my whole body was cold, then hot like it was being burned. I felt scared but I still kept my eyes shut.
Suddenly, I heard a cracking sound. Then, I felt that I was standing on the marble tiles. Was I free? What had happened? Someone held my hand. "It's okay, now you can open your eyes." At the same time, he pulled a jacket over my shoulders. Slowly, I opened my eyes. I wasn't trapped anymore! I was so happy, so happy that I cried. The guy saw that I was weak and barefooted so he picked me up. The guy carried me out of the museum, where I've never seen. He constantly checked and made sure no one was around.
"Are you hurt?" He asked me, checking if there's any wounds. I shook my head. He then led me into a car. After buckling the seat belts, he started the car engine and drove away from the museum. "Aren't you with the students just now?" I asked, remembering of those nasty girls. To that, he said, "well, long story short, I was transferred to the wrong school. You're not from here, are you?" I told him that I couldn't remember anything. "Don't worry, I know where you're from," he then turned to concentrate on driving.
Who was this guy? How did he hear me in the stone? How did he freed me from the stone? I found myself feeling a bit scared of this person that freed me. He was a total stranger. "What's your name?" I decided to start a conversation to know more after feeling a little comfortable with the new surrounding. "I guess you're feeling better now. I'm Nick." He continued, "So you've been in there for 17 years. It was tough, wasn't it?" I nodded. I turned to the side window and took a deep breath. I just wanted a good rest. Soon, I felt drowsy and drifted to sleep.
Essay/Story 002: Past
"Her results are fine. But to be truthful, she wasn't handing in her homework in the first semester," the 25 year old teacher, Miss Linz said to the girl's parents.Their faces changed as they turned to look at their daughter. She was 9 years old, an innocent looking girl studying in Fararday School. The parents were stunned. How could such a good, disciplined daughter do such a thing? "But she has been improving just a few weeks ago. She handed in all her homework. All were nicely done." The teacher continued after she saw the parent's reaction. "Thank you Miss Linz," the father said with a cold tone. The atmosphere turned gray as the parents and the child walked out of the classroom. Miss Linz sigh as she saw the child's face, full of fear and horror.
It was parents' day. The day where parents went to school to talk to the form teacher and understand about their child's performance in school. Many parents will praise their children as they've passed the exams with flying colours. Some gave encouragement for the ones that didn't make it. A few cheeky students will get scoldings from their parents. But for Charlis, she never gets any praises or encouragement even with the best results in school. All she gets is a cold shoulder from her father. A full-time writer that sits at his desk from dawn to dusk, writing almost non-stop so as to finish his work before the dead line.Her mother was never by her side, she was always on the phone or out on business trips around the world.
Every year on parents' day, her mother will always turn up, physically, but her mind and soul were never there. She was always thinking about the business. While her father never talks to her. Even at home or during dinner, Charlis never looked at her parents or say anything to them. This year, it was the same cold shoulder treatment. "What have I done wrong? I did what I needed to, but why are they like that? They don't even want to bother me! Why do I have such parents? I don't want parents like them!" The thoughts in Charlis made her angrier and angrier. Unknowingly, tears filled her eyes, making her vision blur. She wiped away the tears, but she still couldn't control herself. Sobbing in the corner, the little girl felt lost in this cold and lonely place.
Sometimes she just dwelles over the past
not the good happy memories
always the bad ones
making herself think that she'll never get out of there
naive little child that just don't want to wake up
even thou she knows
but always
she saw the pit
yet she never put any effort to avoid it or face it
she just let herself fall into the pit
then murmurs that life isn't fair
every time
until finally
she felt bored
then
she drags herself up
out of the pit
only to find out soon there are too many pits in front
making herself feel regret
why wouldn't she just stay in the last pit and lay there forever
