Pica is a disorder where a patient commonly eats things that aren’t actually food and it can rage from dirt and ice to pencils and toothbrushes. It’s most common in children and pregnant women, but can affect anyone of any age. It’s believe to be caused by a mineral deficiency linked to celiac disease, as what is eaten often contains a mineral which the person is deficient in.

The body can get a little confused a times and has been known to mistake thirst for hunger. If you have an arm or a leg in a plaster cast and you have an itch, try scratching the opposite limb. It has been suggested you can relieve an itch by confusing the brain.
