Cut Scene: First Meeting

"You're Nick, yes?" A lady approached him. She looks like she's about late 20's... hair tied in a bun and a simple yellow t-shirt with black short pants. Quite a casual look for a voice that commands.

He nodded and gave a slight bow.

"We talked on the phone. I'm Cassie. Nice to meet you." She said and shook hands with him.

"Nice to meet you too."

After that, they went to Cassie's office.

"So, since today's your first day, I'll go easy on you. I'll be giving you a tour. Umm... do you have the forms?"

He handed her the forms which were then checked. After going through the papers, Cassie asked him for his portfolio. She flipped through it and Nick gave brief explanations about his works.

"You've been working for how many years?" She asked out of a sudden.

"I've been working part time jobs for 3 years. But this is a first time." He said honestly.

"You don't need to worry a thing. It'll be fun! Just relax." Cassie told him with a warm smile.

"Okay." He grinned.

"So here's a map, just in case. Since it is a big place." Cassie gave him a very colorful piece of paper.

"Basically, we have 3 floors. First floor is the offices, library and exam hall. Then, the second and third floors are the classes. Come, I'll show you." Cassie led him to the library which was the closest.

It was built under the school but the library is opened to the public. It was huge, air-coned, interestingly built shelves with a variety of books, a few computers around... The tables and chairs were designed oddly. Imagine Alice in Wonderland, the library style? There was a corner where about 20 children and a teenager were giggling.

"Hello everyone~ We have a new friend~" Cassie said and signaled Nick to talk a bit.

"Good morning everyone, I'm Nick. Hope we can learn together." He said formally.

After that, he talked to the children a bit. The teenager, Stella was telling them a new story she created. The class later continued as Cassie and Nick left.

"I hope you don't mind me asking, but how old is Stella?" Nick got curious since a young girl is put in charge of 20 children.

"We have a very unique system here, which I'll show you later. By the way, she's 15 years old. Stella's been teaching here for about 2 years now. She's one of the most talented authors I've seen too. You were quite good with the children, not bad for a first time." Cassie said.

"Thanks?" He said, still unsure.

"Relax, alright? You've got the job already, now just have fun." Cassie laughed a bit at how he's being nervous.

"The exam hall is not always an exam hall... We have some performances once in awhile, some exhibitions too." She showed him the hall which was empty at that time.
